Down's syndrome is a form of disease that is brought about by an unhealthy pregnancy of a mother and genetics. If the parent happens to be careless during pregnancy, the child is prone to different kind of diseases. Nutrition is very important to pregnant mothers; they shouldn't neglect the fact that she is carrying another person inside her. Every mother should remember that her baby feeds and needs are based on her nutritional needs as well.

The nutrition of the baby inside the womb of the mother passes through the umbilical cord. It is a cord that connects the mother to the baby, and the blood of the mother is being passed through the baby carrying nutrition and different kinds of vitamin and minerals. Even immunity can be transmitted to the baby through the cord.

During pregnancy, parents can undergo different kinds of Down's syndrome screening and diagnostic exams. There are two kinds of tests that can be done to a mother during her pregnancy. These diagnostics are known as amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling or CVS.

These kinds of tests are considered just an optional. The mother has the full responsibility whether or not she will submit herself in any tests considering the fact she is pregant. It is sometimes suggested that women must take this tests so that they will detect the possibility of their children developing any inborn illness.

Amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling or CVS have the potential to give you a clearer vision if your baby or fetus chromosomes is having an extra number to determine this kind of illness. Babies with this kind of illness have an extra number of chromosomes that is present in their body, extra number of 21 chromosomes that gives you a total number of 47 chromosomes, in which 46 chromosomes are the normal number inside our body.

Screening tests are perfect as an initial assessment but this doesn't give the complete assurance that you will have the right diagnosis neither affirm if your child sis having a Down syndrome. Screening tests simply tells you that your child may have a higher risk of accommodating this kind of disease. On the other hand, diagnostic test is the conformation exam to know the possibility of a child developing this disease.

Down's syndrome is a kind of disease that must be tackled straight forward, neglecting this kind of illness would likely result in an emotional situation. Most of the time, the parents might not accept or reject the thought of the possibilities that will end up of disowning the child. It is better that the parents of the child must prepare beforehand so that they will have to carry on in taking care of their child.
