Ringing in ears is what we call Tinnitus. There seems to be a very unusual noise that can be heard. The origin of the noise cannot be determined properly if it came from the head or ear. This can be a very serious problem. This disease creates disturbance and thus becomes a nuisance when not resolved.

This is actually not a single disease but it is rather a symptom of an underlying condition. Millions of people suffer from this disorder and in most of the cases where itis visible, it is only the patient who can hear the noise. So what really causes this so called Tinnitus or ringing in ears? It is said that it can arise in this following areas: The outer ear, the inner ear, the middle ear or in some brain abnormalities.

Some of these noises are normal and it diminishes when one goes to a sound proofed area. Normally, anything such as wax or something of a foreign body that blocks the sounds coming from the external ear will cause us to be aware of the sounds inside our own head. Also, when one's eardrum is damaged or some fluid infections are visible, these factors can cause the ear ringing.

Another most common cause of tinnitus is the damage to the endings of the microscopic hearing nerve inside the inner ear. Age is one of the greatest factors that could accompany the impairment of this hearing nerve. Loud noise could also result as a cause to this. Exposure to excessive noise not only leads to tinnitus, it often damages hearing. However we put it this over exposure to these harmful things could lead to very serious the damage of our hearing.

We may say that this ringing of ear or what we call Tinnitus is a very rare case, preventive measure is more advisable. Being unconcerned about the harmful effects of excessively loud noises such as firearms and high intensity music can lead to a much greater problem in the future, also another factor that causes this ear ring is the overuse of aspirin and other medications.

If you really want to know what causes your ringing in ears, there is a physical exam that could help determine what and where precisely this tinnitus is coming from. This kind of medical exam would be helpful both to the patient and doctor as well. From this exam, the doctor may be able to diagnose whether this tinnitus is constant, intermittent or pulsating, it may be even associated with loss of hearing and loss of balance. After finding out the causes of this ear ring then, treatment of it may be possible. You wouldn't want to hear your ear ringing for the rest of your life would you? So, let's avoid Tinnitus as early as now. Consult a doctor if you feel you've got any signs of it.
