Flu is caused by a number of RNA viruses and it is also referred to as influenza. Flu cannot be taken lightly, especially when the person infected with it is still a child. One of the most common symptoms of flu is high fever, and when a kid has high fever, the most important thing for a parent to prevent is dehydration. Dehydration is bad news, especially for young kids, since it can lead to a lot of things worse than high fever or flu. Therefore, you should familiarize yourself to a number of remedies for flu, which you can apply for your kid just in case he gets infected with the virus.

One of the most important things you should do as a parent is to be able to tell if something is wrong with your kid. Common symptoms of flu include shivering, clogged nose, sore throat, body pain, severe headache, dry cough, weakness, and uneasiness. Therefore, if you observe these symptoms on your kid, then you should already do some measures to counter it. One of the initial things you should observe in young kids is their appetite and their activeness. Kids, in most cases, are hyperactive; therefore, if your kid seems to be conserving his energy, which is quite unusual, then you should already suspect that there is something wrong with him.

Keep in mind that flu virus is very contagious; therefore, if you have more than one kid in your house, you should immediately try to confine your flu infected kid into his room. This will prevent the virus to spread around your household, as well as to let your kid get his needed rest.

While your kid is trying to get some rest, you should monitor his temperature constantly. Aside from this, make sure that he gets to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.

There are a number of flu remedies you can buy over the counter of pharmacies. However, it is best that you ask your doctor about which ones you can give for your kid.

Focus on boosting your kids' immune system, since it is the best tool that you got in fighting the virus. Provide support to his immune system by making sure that he gets enough hours of sleep at night. Aside from that, it is also best that he eats a healthy diet.

Do not forget to provide your child with certain medications, so that he will be able to feel more comfortable, while his body is doing its job to kill the virus. It is best that you already have nasal decongestants, cough drops, pain relievers, and nasal sprays in your medicine cabinet, so that your child won't have to endure all the symptoms.

These remedies for flu should be able to help your child feel better, when he is infected with the virus. Keep in mind that prevention is always better than cure. Therefore, always see to it that preventive care is always practiced, so that your kids do not have to endure the symptoms of certain diseases.
