Will The New Lipotuck Procedure Replace The Traditional Tummy Tuck?

There are two amazing and wonderful life events that can have some unfortunate side-effects on the body and for the same reason: child birth and extreme weight loss. Both pregnancy and obesity stretch the skin. After the baby is born or the weight is lost, the skin on the abdomen can sag or protrude. Fat deposits can remain on the belly, thighs, and hips that dieting and exercise never seem to reduce. Though liposuction can remove the remaining fat deposits, it actually makes the problem of loose skin even worse and does not improve the presence of stretch marks.

The good news is that there is a new plastic surgery technique that can correct all of these issues and problem areas in a single-stage procedure. It is called Lipotuck. The trademarked Lipotuck procedure was pioneered by double board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ahmad Ahmadi as a result of his disappointment in the results of the tummy tuck procedure alone. The tummy tuck procedure, or abdominoplasty, corrects post-pregnancy or weight loss skin sagging by removing the excess skin. It also repairs muscles in the lower abdomen that have weakened or separated that is a common occurrence of pregnancy.

Though the tummy tuck beautifully flattens the lower abdomen, it does nothing for the upper abdomen, love handles, or hips. This often results in a less well-defined waistline and bulges in the upper abdomen and pubic and bra areas. Some patients who have had a tummy tuck go back later for liposuction to correct the issues in those areas that the tummy tuck didn't correct, requiring an additional procedure. The Lipotuck procedure offers complete body contouring with a one-stage solution preventing the need for additional surgery.

The Lipotuck combines the tummy tuck with significant liposuction of the upper abdomen, waist line love handles, and hips that addresses the entire mid-section to create a very pleasing waist line and abdominal contour that cannot be done with either a tummy tuck or liposuction alone. When needed, liposuction is done on the thighs also for complete contouring. It requires no additional recovery time than a traditional tummy tuck with patients able to return to desk jobs within a few days and able to drive in a week or two.

This wonderful advance in abdominal plastic surgery makes it possible for women to regain and even improve their pre-pregnancy body in a single step. It also offers the ultimate reward to those who have lost vast amounts of weight to enjoy their new, beautiful bodies that they deserve.
