Cardiovascular exercise is one of the most challenging forms of exercise, but it is also one of the forms of exercise that provides the most benefits. When you exercise, you can become stronger, have more endurance and achieve a great level of fitness.
You can also develop better hand to eye coordination, balance, and flexibility. In addition, research has found that regular exercise causes people to develop greater levels of self-esteem and self-confidence.
In turn, greater self-esteem and self-confidence pushes people to take more of the opportunities that are available to them. As they take these opportunities, their new found self-esteem and self-confidence helps people to achieve more success as well.
There are many more benefits that exercise has to offer as well. However, cardiovascular exercise can be quite difficult at times for a variety of reasons.
It may be uncomfortable or painful, or simply boring. Whatever the reason, exercising becomes much easier when it is less difficult.
One way to lessen the pain of cardiovascular exercise is to switch from a treadmill to an elliptical. The treadmill requires a lot of up and down bouncing motions that puts a lot of stress on your joints.
This can cause a lot of pain and sometimes injury as well. However, the elliptical relieves this problem as it is a much smoother form of exercise.
It does not have the same up and down bouncing motion that causes additional injury and pain, but it provides many of the same benefits and a similar motion to running on the treadmill. The elliptical is a great alternative to the treadmill if you have this problem.
However, choosing the cardiovascular activity that you like is the number one factor in enjoying the exercise. If you do not like the activity you are doing, it will become very boring and your will dread doing it.
Exercising daily will become harder and harder as you fall further and further into boredom. Many people make the mistake of limiting themselves to only a couple choices when there are hundreds of choices to choose from.
If you like the activity you are doing, you will not become as bored as quickly and you will enjoy it much more. This will make exercising daily a habit that is much easier to develop.
Think about whether you would rather walk, run, or perform an aerobics video. Or you may want to work out on an elliptical, stair stepper, recumbent bike and so forth.
Exercise can also become much more enjoyable if you choose some good music or a good workout partner. Good music that is upbeat and motivates you to feel excited and continue exercising are good choices.
A great partner who you make a commitment to exercise with can also be very motivating when it comes to exercising. They can also make the activity much less boring as you talk about interesting topics or suffer through the pain together.
The time you spend exercising tends to go by much faster when you have something that can distract you from the exercise. This person can also remind you of your goals.
The third thing that can make cardiovascular activities much more enjoyable is setting goals. The feeling you get when you set goals to run so fast or so far or to lose a certain amount of weight and you achieve them can be quite exciting and very motivating.
As you can see your improvement, you will be motivated to continue exercising. If your goal is to lose weight, be sure that you exercise on an empty stomach, which is generally about two to two and half hours after a meal.
Not only is it easier to exercise at this time, but the body will start taking energy out of its stores of fat pretty much right away. Another thing that can affect your enjoyment of cardiovascular activity is how long you perform it.
In general, you should not exercise less than twenty minutes or longer that forty five minutes at one time during the day. If you exercise more than this, the body may access muscle tissue instead of fat.
This will make you weaker and you will not lose any more weight. As you exercise it will be important that you work out at your rate.
It should be challenging, but comfortable at the same time. Be sure to keep the same level of effort throughout your entire workout time even though it may be easier to slow down.
