Power Through the Stress of Being a Mom

Being a mom is a full-time gig, and while you certainly love your children, it can still be tremendously stressful, especially if you opt not to have a job outside the home so you can devote your whole self to them. So how can you combat the stress that naturally comes with caring for your kids, as you know you're always busy? Let me give you some suggestions.

Practice de-stressing exercises that you are able to do for only a few minutes at a time. Activities like deep breathing or meditation can be done for just a few minutes after you wake up or while the children are napping.

Also focus on stretching out every morning and evening to lessen the impact of tension on your muscles. Go through shoulder shrugs and neck rolls, as these particular places are heavily affected by stress and can be the source for tension headaches and prolonged aches.

When you make time to be with your spouse, you may want to suggest that you take turns giving each other massages. Not only will this facilitate relaxation, it will also increase intimacy and closeness between the two of you, which is so important when you both are trying to juggle your many other obligations.

It is vital to differentiate your role as a mother from that of being a girlfriend or wife so you can remain balanced. Unfortunately, many couples tank and head toward divorce because they are so focused on being good parents that they forget to keep the love alive.

Remember to allow yourself to be beautiful. While it is certainly crucial to focus on your kids, you should also give yourself enough time each day to put on at least one basic bit of makeup--mascara, lip gloss, or a few swipes of blush. Get out of the sweatpants and put a little more energy toward putting together outfits that make you feel more confident and lovely.

On the same note, you should make time to visit a Gold Coast salon and day spa regularly. Most moms that I know hack off all their hair for convenience' sake, regardless of how flattering the short style is for them. So instead of going drastic, visit the Gold Coast salon to discuss a style that is both manageable and sexy. You're a mom, but that doesn't mean you have to settle for drab instead of fab.

Don't forget to get plenty of exercise. Take the children along for walks in the park or let them participate in some exercises at home. Aerobic exercise releases endorphins, which promote a feeling of well-being. But whatever you do, make each day fun. Remember that your children are blessed to have a loving mother!
