Do you need advice on tattoo removal in California? There are several methods to remove tattoos including: Intense Pulsed Light therapy (IPL), laser surgery, dermabrasion, and skin bleaching creams. These types removal treatments are used on cosmetic tattoos (such as permanent makeup and eyebrow tattoos), traumatic tattoos (which are caused by accidents or trauma), professional tattoos, amateur tattoos, and medical tattoos (which are dots tattooed on the body and used for radiation therapy). Besides the many cosmetic and personal reasons for wanting to remove tattoos, people also may need to have them removed or faded in order to have accurate MRI tests and X-rays. Here you will find information regarding these varied methods to remove tattoos.

Intense Pulsed Light therapy (IPL)
This form of laser surgery is among the effective form of tattoo removal treatment. Q-switched lasers are very effective with this treatment. With IPL therapy, you won't end up with bleached skin or noticeable scarring. Like other forms of laser treatment, IPL treatment is not as painful as other surgical removal treatments. IPL is the most effective, safest, and most comfortable type of removal treatment available. You will feel the short pulses of light, which most people describe as feeling like getting snapped with a rubber band. If this bothers you, professional clinics have mild topical pain numbing treatments so that your experience is comfortable and relaxing.

Laser surgery
Since the advent of laser surgery tattoo removal, most people have stopped using older removal techniques (such as dermabrasion, salabrasion, excision surgery, etc.). Older surgical methods were very painful, and generally left some type of scar. Laser surgery (including Intense Pulsed Light therapy) is the most effective type of removal treatment available today. Lasers are used to bleach or remove the tattoo ink that has been implanted into the skin with needles. Although laser removal is highly effective, patients should be aware that it will take time for the skin to regenerate and repair after surgery. Even with laser surgery (the most effective form of tattoo removal available), the skin usually won't look quite as perfect as it did before being tattooed. It will look very close, however, and most people wouldn't notice that you have ever had a tattoo removed.

Dermabrasion
This old fashioned form of tattoo removal literally grinds away the tattooed skin, often with sandpaper-like medical equipment. Usually you will need a series of dermabrasion procedures, spaced apart long enough to allow the skin to heal somewhat between treatments. Because dermabrasion is quite painful, you will need a local injected anesthetic (in the area of the surgery) if you have this treatment.

Skin bleaching creams
Although they promise the world, skin-bleaching creams cannot completely remove any type of tattoo, since the tattoo is embedded deep in the skin. Tattoo removal creams can sometimes be used to fade tattoos, but should not be considered an actual method of tattoo removal in California.
