If you have read my previous articles about gaining weight, I talked a lot about building muscular weight from using proper workouts and consuming nutritional foods, but barely anything about supplements. This is because different people have different needs and ideas about consuming supplements. However, if you want to see better improvements and build bigger muscles, then you should consider the idea of supplementing your diet.

Firstly, if you want to gain muscle weight, you have to consume enough protein as protein is the basic muscle building food. The problem is that most people do not consume enough protein from their meals and many are afraid of eating too much red meat as the meats contain saturated fats which can make them fat or raise their cholesterol level.

That being the case, the alternative is to take protein supplements. There are many so called protein supplements in the market, but we will only dwell on the fundamentals which are enough to build your muscles. I am talking about whey protein and casein protein.

Whey protein has been around for ages and it is only in the last two or three decades that the value of whey protein has become more widely established, especially in the area of sports and bodybuilding nutrition. It is made up of essential and non-essential amino acids which are the building blocks for healthy bodies and its roles include repairing the body, build and repair muscles and bones, as a source of energy and the control of important processes in the body related to the human metabolism.
