Although you may really enjoy a song, it is possible that it will not be good for a workout. You want music that is upbeat and is going to keep you pedaling and pushing through the hardest parts of your workout.
Some people would rather not use any of these methods to keep themselves going on the machine. When you find yourself in this position you can instead focus on the type of workout that you want to push through.
