Obesity is one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide and the death toll is increasing at a rapid pace, which made authorities to view it as one of the serious public health problem of the 21st century. It has now became a major health concern all over the world with increasing number of people suffering from excessive fat in all age groups right from kids to old people.

Once considered to be a beauty issue but later it was realized as a major health disorder. Doctors all over the world agree that more than 25% of men and more than 30% of women are obese. There are many reasons why a person becomes obese

*Excessive caloric intake,
*Lack of physical activity
*Genetic susceptibility but the primary reason is bad food habits.

Today technology has revolutionized the world so much that you can get everything at your desk on a click of a mouse. Though it is nice to live in this high tech world it increased the problem of obesity. In this developed world people use computers for all their work, with increased mental work and decreased physical activity hence an individual would naturally become obese.

After the invention of video game consoles and realistic games, children prefer to play at home and avoid outdoor games which decrease the physical activity and it is the main reason for obesity in children along with heavy consumption of high calorie food items.

The obesity rate continues to increase all over the world and as of 2006 more than 33.3% of men and 35.3% of women in US were suffering from obesity. Obesity itself is a disease and is also the major cause for other diseases related to various medical
*field such as
*Cardiology
*Endocrinology
*Neurology
*Psychiatry
*Rheumatology
*orthopaedics
*Urology
*Respirology
*Oncology
*Gastrointestinal & dermatology. Apart from these diseases obese people generally lack confidence because of their shape.

Since obesity is the root cause for many diseases it is considered as a serious health problem but even today people think there is no solid solution for obesity which can eradicate obesity completely. After its discovery many products have been developed which boosts the secretion of leptin into the blood. But there are many negative aspects of such products the most dangerous side effect is the uncontrolled weight loss.

This is a situation under which the leptin production will keep on increasing in uncontrolled manner which results in losing all the fat in the body including the healthy fat and you would become skinny. If proper treatment is not taken on time then it may cause disastrous effect. Whenever there is an increase in amount of fat in the body .Then the adipocytes cell will discharge more leptin into the blood and signals the brain that there is enough fat in the body and the unwanted fat is removed from the body.

This is what happens with a normal person if for any reason this leptin secretion fails or released in small quantity then the person will become obese. Dieting is the most common technique followed by obese people to reduce the body fat. It is one of the most effective methods of losing body weight of up to 2.5 kg within a week by following the very low calorie diets.

Studies show that usually obese people manage to lose only 2 to 8 kilogram per year by following the diet without knowing really what to do. It is also a good idea to combine physical exercise with diet because exercise will force the muscles to consume energy derived from both fat and glycogen hence burning down the excessive fat.

Exercise affects macronutrient balance and there will be a shift to greater use of fat as a fuel. If you could lose 1 kg by diet then you can lose 1.5 kg by combining it with exercise. But there is a procedure regarding what exercises that you must do and what kind of diet you should follow, if you do not follow this rule then you will not achieve the efficiency.

The easiest method of losing the weight is to remove the fat tissues by surgery but it is also the most dangerous and unhealthy method. It is reported that nearly half of them those who have undergone these surgeries became permanently sick and some of them are hospitalized to regain the health, other side effects include

*Excessive hair fall
* Flaking of skin
*Extreme shivering of legs
Without knowing these side effects many people blindly undergo this operation to get rid of fat.

Fat removal surgery is big business in US and other parts of the world. In 1995 just 20,000 weight loss operations were performed in US since then it increased to 103,000 in 2008.
