Going back to the basics, one of the things that would really help you lose weight is your metabolism. However, you need to raise its level in order for your body to burn more calories and fats.

Increasing your metabolic rate can be done by changing you eating habits. One of the most effective ways to do it is to eat more times in a day. Now, you may already be doing this, but this time, you will need to reduce the portions. Eating more times in a day in lesser portions would make your body constantly burn more calories, since it will constantly try to break down the foods that you intake. Aside from that, it will also prevent you from eating too much during regular meal times, since you won't be that hungry. The lesser intervals you have between the times that you eat, the lesser food you want to intake.

Aside from that, when you eat, be sure to take your time, so that you will give your body enough time to inform your mind that you are already full. In most cases, whether you eat a lot of food or not, the time consumed before you feel that you are full will be the same. Therefore, even if you had only a small portion of salad for lunch or dinner, you will eventually feel full, since your mind will tell you that you are.

Keep in mind that having more muscles than fat will also increase your rate of metabolism. The reason behind this is that muscles would require more calories to maintain than fats. This is the reason why fitter individuals actually have easier times in maintaining or improving their figures than those who are carrying extra pounds.
