Staying motivated to consistently exercise is not an easy task for most people. In the fast paced, busy lives of many people there are hundreds of excuses that come up that may prevent them from exercising as much as they should.

However, there are also hundreds of benefits that you could possibly receive from exercising as well. Through exercising you may be able to lose weight, increase your endurance, increase your flexibility, increase your sense of balance, become stronger, achieve a more toned look, and so forth.

Even though there are hundreds of benefits you could possibly enjoy as a result of exercising, realizing those benefits may still not be enough to motivate you to exercise on a consistent, daily basis. Finding a reason to exercise every day is very important.

Everyone is different, so it is likely that the thing that motivates you to exercise may be very different from your friend's or neighbor's reason to exercise. There are many different things you can try to see if they will motivate you.

One of the first things you will want to try is making sure that you have the right clothing, equipment and so forth to properly carry out your exercise routine. These things all affect your comfort level.

In general, the more comfortable you are the more likely it is that you will enjoy a particular activity. However, the more uncomfortable you are, the more likely it is that you will not enjoy a particular activity.

One of the most critical pieces of equipment or clothing that you should spend some time in selecting is your shoes. Shoes can have a great impact on your comfort level as you exercise.

This is especially true for those who run cross country or who run long distances. If you consistently exercise in improper shoes, you could injure yourself.

The often repeated actions of exercise, which are particularly noticeable in running, can put a lot of strain on the joints. Without the proper support of a good pair of shoes, these repeated impacts could cause damage to your joints.

In addition, you may want to invest in weather resistant clothing so that you can overcome the excuse that the weather is bad. Purchasing a gym membership can also help in overcoming this excuse.

Another thing you may want to try in order to motivate yourself is to look for supplemental material about the form of exercise you chose to perform. There are many resources you can find about pretty much any sport or form of exercise.

Many of these resources can be very motivating when exercising becomes difficult. It may also help to find a role model in the exercise you chose as striving to be like your role model may motivate you to workout consistently.

The third thing that you may want to think about is will power. It is normal and completely human to have your will to exercise vary over time.

If you realize that you are simply not going to be as motivated to exercise sometimes, you may be able to tell yourself that today is one of those days, but if you exercise anyway, you may feel like exercising tomorrow. It may also help when you have days where you are not motivated to set very short term goals for yourself.

For example, you may decide to only exercise for ten minutes. Or you may decide to only go so far.

However, when you reach this point you may feel much better and decide to continue exercising. It is important to get through the times where you feel little motivation to exercise in order to achieve any goals you may have set.

Another thing you may want to do is reward yourself for every time you exercise. You may do this through simply drawing a large star or smiley face on the calendar on days that you workout.

Visual reminders of what you have achieved can sometimes be the best motivators to continue achieving. You know what kinds of rewards will motivate you and you may want to implement some of them.

Some people also find that changing the routine as they achieve their goals to exercise can help them stay motivated to exercise. One form of exercise can become quite boring after a while.

It can sometimes help you to stay interested in working out if you change the scenery or what you do every day. In addition, it is likely you have improved since you started working out so by the time you reach your first goal it will be time to step up the intensity or the duration of your work out if you want to continue improving.

There are many things you can try to motivate yourself. However, it is important to remember that everyone is different and the same techniques that work for you may not work for someone else.
