Staying in a hotel might not be the most exciting prospect for some people. Some people only think of vacations when they hear the word hotel while others think of germs and disease.

If you are concerned about the cleanliness of a hotel or about other things in general, you may want to consider following a few of these tips. There are many things you can do to reduce your risk of contracting germs or allergens.

The first thing you may want to consider doing is packing your own sheets. When you arrive at your hotel you can put this sheet over the bedspread to reduce your contact with dust mites, germs, or allergens.

These things are common afflictions of many people who visit hotels. In addition, you may want to bring along a long sleeved shirt and pants that you will feel comfortable in.

If you are worried about cleanliness, wearing these things will reduce your contact with the bedding when you sleep. You can even wear a warm pair of fuzzy sock to bed if you would like.

Another thing that you should probably keep in mind is that the bed is for sleeping only. Try not to watch the TV, do work, read, or do anything else on it.

By saving the bed for bed time you will be able to fall asleep easier. This will help you sleep better overall even though you are not in your own bed or in your own home.

Another thing you might want to consider doing is reserving a room that is allergy free. Many hotels now have rooms that contain furniture, pillows, and blankets designed to repel and reduce many allergens.

You may even get a complementary allergy pack, face mask, pillow or mattress cover if you ask nicely. These rooms can reduce your discomfort greatly if you are one who suffers from dust mites or other things.

Another thing than can reduce your exposure to illness and allergies is choosing a hotel that is modern and up to date. The old bed and breakfast style inns can be very comfortable, unless you have allergies.

This style of hotel usually has old carpet, old blankets, and it overall simply old. This means that these things have had time to gather dust mites and other things for years.

You can mostly avoid this build up by going to a hotel that has new everything. The newer the hotel, the less risk for allergies and disease there will be.

It is also a very good idea to ask for a room on the third floor or higher. This is especially important if you bring expensive things with you into the hotel.

The most thefts occur on the first two floors. It is also a good idea to stay lower than the seventh floor.

Above the seventh floor, there are very few fire ladders that can reach that high. In order to ensure your safety, it is best to stay between the 3rd and 6th floors.

In addition, it is a very good idea to choose a hotel over a motel. Motels tend to be more run down and cheaper.

As a result, their security is not as good because the doors open right to the parking lot. This makes your room much more susceptible to robbery.

In addition, the door allows a lot more dirt and allergens to come directly into your room at a motel because it opens to the outdoors. For people with health concerns, hotels are definitely the best option.

Another good idea is to book a hotel with a pool or exercise room if you are going to be staying there for several days. Taking advantage of these services during the few days you are there can help you sleep better and can help remove the stiffness you may be feeling from traveling constantly.

Most people eat more than they usually do while traveling. By exercising, you can lose some of these extra calories that you eat every day.

Another thing you can to help yourself avoid eating too much is to cut the time you have to eat in half. Spend the other half taking a brisk walk and refreshing yourself.

The first thing you should do when you walk into your room is check your mattress for bed bugs. Bed bugs are the affliction of hotels.

They will bite you when you are sleeping leaving you itchy for the next couple of days. Even though hotels try to remove them with pesticides, these bugs are becoming increasingly resilient.
