Internet has pooled such extensive information that it helps just any person to gain some basic knowledge about just anything. For consumers especially, the information has been an empowerment tool. Suppose there is a new gadget available in the market, but before one decides to buy it, one really wants to understand the user experience.

But no one in one's knowledge has really bought and tested it so far. In this case, one can decide to search the internet for more information. On the internet, depending upon the popularity of the gadget, there will be at least one person who could have posted his experience about it. If the experience has been good, the prospective buyer can immediate go and buy the gadget.

But if the experience of buying it has been bad, then the prospective buyer can decide in just giving up the idea of buying it. This has become possible because of the comments and reviews that websites allow to be posted freely by customers. The customers have no direct relation to the product or the company selling the product, but depending upon their expectations, they would just post their experiences about the product.

They could also rate it or give a full detail about how they felt it while using it or whether the services promised by the company in the product are really available and whether or not they really satisfy their purposes. The prospective buyer can also match up his conditions and then make the decision of really buying the gadget.

This kind of consumerism has also expanded to the healthcare world. Now patients do not need rely upon their experiences that is wait and experience and then realize whether a doctor has really treated them or not. Now, the patients can first log on to websites that offer doctor reviews and doctor ratings. The websites are locally driven and they usually consist of a database of all the doctors who have registered or whose details have been posted by somebody else.

Patients can easily locate them on the website by searching for them through the search box of the website or browsing through the different categories of the doctors. A local website of a particular area, state or county will have all the details necessary about a particular doctor. Along with those details, there will be doctor reviews and doctor ratings.

These doctor reviews and doctor ratings have not been developed by the website itself. These have been posted by past patients who have taken the services of these doctors. If the services have been quite good, they will give positive opinions about the doctors. But if there has been a bad experience, they would directly warn future patients not to take their services.

Also, these postings have become increasingly sophisticated. Since many factors are considered while seeking healthcare like getting the appointment quickly, the response from the clinic staff, the infrastructure available, the tests to be carried out, the waiting room availability and the waiting time for patients, all these are also mentioned by the patients.
