If you want to get rid of that extra fat and skin around your arms, shoulders, and upper body, you need to jump both feet into a workout that will get you back into shape! There is no time like the present when it comes to taking your health into a more positive direction.

One great way to do this is by working out with a punching bag. You can either do some regular boxing exercises, or you can try kickboxing.

This is a great way to firm you under arms, and tone your shoulder muscles into the best condition they have ever been in. It also happens to be a great way to relieve stress and tension, and unwind at the end of the day.

Why pay for therapy when you can punch the stuffing out of a bag? It is much cheaper, and great for your body at the same time.

If you feel buying a bag is too expensive, fear not-you can actually make your own! If you have the right materials and little patience, you can save yourself a few hundred dollars.

It can also count as a great homemade gift for a friend or loved one. Experiment with one for yourself, and once you get the craft down, you can make one for someone else.

There are two ways to go about getting a shell. You can either buy one from a retail store or on a website like Ebay or you can use something similar.

Canvas is cheaper than leather, but cheapest of all is to buy an army ruck sack from an army surplus store. These bags are long and cylindrical and were made to hold 80-100 pounds of gear so you know they will hold up to your beatings.

Once you have chosen a shell, move on to the weight. The easiest way to weight the bag is with play sand.

You can find play sand in most home improvement stores for very cheap. Whatever you do, do not use concrete.

Though it starts out fluffy like sand as moisture gets into the bag from humidity, it will harden. Even tough guys and girls don't like to punch a cylinder of rock-that equals a broken hand!

Once you get your sand, roll it into a ball that will fit down into the bottom of the shell. Roll the ball in many layers of trash bags, to keep it from splitting and pouring sand everywhere.

Roll the wrapped ball to the bottom of the shell. It is a good idea to first buy a piece of foam from an arts and crafts store, to line the inside of your creation.

This will keep the bag from getting lumpy. Next use old rags, clothes or pieces of foam to pack the ruck sack tightly.

If your sack is not heavy enough from the first ball, now is the time to roll another ball of sand into the bag. Pack the filling materials in tight so that the bag does not get dents in it as it is used.

Tie or zip it up, and make sure that there are no holes or leaks. That pretty much sums up the contents you are going to need.

Hang the bag using a heavy gauge chain, and a ceiling hook that can hold the load. You may want to talk to someone at your local hardware store about getting the perfect hook.

Make sure to screw the hook into a beam in the ceiling that can bear the weight. The last thing you want is for your ceiling to come crashing down!

Get the chain cut to length, so that the top of the sack lines up with your sight line. You should be able to punch strait out and hit the bag.

Have fun with your new inexpensive creation! Remember that over time, the materials will settle and you will need to stuff more packing into the top of it.

Other than that, it should be ready to go. Make sure that you have gloves or wraps, so your hands are not damaged in any way.

Always make sure that you have plenty of space to work with around your workout area. Now get out there and have fun!
