Yeast infection, also known as Candidiasis, is an infection of the vaginal areas caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans. They occur in warm and moist parts of the body, like the mouth and the vagina. When it comes to vaginal infection, it is called vulvovaginal candidiasis. This condition usually occurs as a result of physiological stress, among other reasons. Pregnancy and certain illnesses also contribute to the overgrowth of candida albicans, even certain medication, like birth control pills and steroidal solutions.

It usually comes around right before a girl goes through her period due to hormonal changes during her menstruation. Using tight-fitting underwear or any form of clothing which traps heat and causes moisture in the vaginal area are big contributors to the growth of yeast infections.

Now I'm not saying that you should use loose-fitting underwear, after all we wouldn't want to experience any eye-catching slippage and attract attention from our guy pals. Another food for thought: yeast infections can be transmitted sexually, so do not engage in any sexual activity with your partner unless you want to pull a cruel prank on him.

With all these taken note of, and a rapid degradation of your sex life, it's only fair you look for ways on how to treat yeast infection, and guess what; you can do so in the comfort of your home!

How can you prevent yeast infections, or at least get rid of them, you may ask. Here are a few tips you might like to consider:

Take daily supplements which aid in the treatment of yeast infection. Anything with lactobacilii, such as Yakult, or some Propolis extract, can greatly aid in the healing process.

Take a bath everyday. You would want to make sure that the most sensitive part of your anatomy is clean and fresh all the time. And trust me, husbands can sniff it.

After taking a bath, make sure your vaginal area is completely dry. Not doing so increases moisture, thus making your sweet spot prone to yeast infections.

Wear cotton underwear to bed or nothing at all, as they provide that sensation of freedom as well as reducing chances of moisture in the vaginal area. If you do wear underwear, make sure they're clean, and that they're not too tight.

As far as medication goes, use antibiotics that have been specifically prescribed for you. Don't take any from someone else, or worse, old antibiotics, even if you think that they could help you out in your quest for relief. Use these only when necessary.

These are some ways on how to treat yeast infection. Constantly apply these tips to your daily routine if you ever experience such an irritation, and you can be sure those deal-breaking days with the hubby or your boyfriend can be put to an end.
