The process of making an identical individual using genetics is called cloning. This procedure can also be adopted for hair transplant cloning method. Cloning is one of the technique and development in the field of genetic engineering. Like the ordinary cloning method that is adopted to produce identical organism, hair can also be cloned genetically. This cloned hair is used in the hair transplant using cloning method. This method id found by doctors Amanda Reynolds and Colin Jahoda.

Hair multiplication is different from that of hair cloning. In hair multiplication the idea is that when a hair is plucked from its position the germinative cells at the base of the hair follicles are able to reproduce when it is implanted in other place. Since the follicle re grow infinitely and potentially this procedure is called as hair multiplication. It gives unlimited production of hair.

In hair transplant using cloning process the hair follicles are in a tough situation. The hair follicles are too complex to be cultured. That is making the hair follicles to grow in a test tube is very complex since the follicles are not a whole living being. Because of this reason the hair follicles cannot be cloned easily.

This complex procedure has made to know that the dermal sheath cells, in the lower region of the hair follicle, can be removed from one patient and then it can be injected into the skin of another person in order to improve the formation of new hair along with the existing one. The newly planted cells are capable to stimulate the full hair follicles.

This procedure can not be considered as cloning when we look at the principle of cloning. But the dermal sheath cells can be multiplied in number and then injected to produce a head full of hair. Another use of the cloning is that the donor cells can be taken from a male and injected to a female and donor cell taken from a female can be injected in to a female.

This shows that the donor cells can be applied from one person to another irrespective of the sex without being rejected. Since even the opposite sex donor is suitable for hair cloning one can have a conclusion that the dermal sheath cells has a immune status and it is one of the bodies immune sites.

Another feature of hair cloning is that the hair cloned looks similar like the own hair of the bald person rather than the color of hair of the donating person. This proves that the recipient skin can change the color of the hair.

Thus, the hair obtained from the hair transplant cloning procedure may look like the original hair of the recipient. This process of cell transfer is important for persons with total absence of hair. The most needed view in this process is that these dermal cells are fibroblasts. This is the easiest cells to culture in cloning, so that the donor region can serve as an unlimited supply of hair to the recipient.
