When you are running on a treadmill consistently you want to make sure that you are taking good care of your body. There are many people that do not understand how hard the treadmill can be on their body.

First, you want to make sure that you are taking all of the necessary precautions throughout your workout. This means that you should be stretching your muscles out thoroughly before you step on the machine that you are going to be using.

When you know that you have to stretch out all of your muscles you want to make sure that you know how you are going to do so. There are a lot of people that stretch without having an adequate knowledge of how to benefit their muscles.

Instead of rushing your stretching you want to make sure that you are stretching with plenty of time before you schedule your workout. There are a lot of people that do not understand how important this part of their workout is.

When you sit down to stretch you will need to stretch much more than just your legs. Even though your legs are going to be the primary muscles that you are utilizing there are many other muscles throughout your body that will need to be stretched.

While you are stretching you want to make sure that you focus on your neck and back before you start to run. Many people forget about his pat of their body because they do not think they will be using these muscles for a simple run.

Although your neck and your back are not going to carry you through your workout you will still want to make sure that they are stretched. After you have stretched our all of the muscles that you can you will then be much more prepared to get on the machine and start running.

Second, you want to make sure that your treadmill is functioning properly. Taking good care of your treadmill may seem like a no brainer but you have to make sure that you are getting it serviced as often as is recommended for your specific machine.

Just like your body needs a doctor to stay healthy your machine will need a treadmill doctor. As you run on the machine the everyday wear and tear will start to wear out some integral parts of the machine that you will need to get a good workout.

When the machine is uneven or not functioning properly you will be able to notice a difference in your running. Taking the time to make sure that the machine is going to work properly throughout your workout will also prevent a lot of injuries.

If the belt of the machine should snag or there should be a problem you will be the one to suffer. Understanding the importance of having your machine serviced may significantly change the quality of your run.

Third, you want to make sure that you are wearing the proper equipment as you are running. There are many people that do not realize what a difference their socks, shoes and even their clothes can have on their run.

When you are not wearing proper shoes for running you can significantly damage your joints. Your ankles, knees, back and even your neck can suffer when you are not taking the time to put on the proper clothes.

Many people have a hard time understanding how to choose the proper shoes for running. Going to a professional shoe store that will fit your foot to a specific shoe is well worth the money that you will spend on the shoes.

More than likely you will have something that is not quite normal with your gait. This means that you will want shoes that help you correct eh problem that you have rather than intensify or increase the problem that you are dealing with.

Finally, you want to make sure that you talk with your doctor about how hard you can be pushing yourself. Over exerting your muscles can be very detrimental and you want to avoid this at all costs.

When you are running too much you can do some permanent damage to your body. Instead of running your body into the ground, make sure that you are running enough to keep your body healthy.

You can keep your body healthy and stay happier when you are exercising on a treadmill. The more that you understand about your body the easier the process will be.
