There are times incidents happen and there is no one available who has the knowledge to administer the necessary steps until the emergency crew arrives. In many situations first aid and CPR save lifes. However, there are critics who say that is a false statement. It seems almost inhuman to stand by and not assist someone that is injured or possibly having a heart attack. There are steps that must be taken, and quickly administered, especially in severe bleeding or heart attack situations.
Administration of CPR can be damaging to the victim if the bystander does not know the proper steps to take. It is important to get the training and certification in order to have the ability to help those in need. The sooner the resuscitation process begins on a person who is suffering a heart attack the better.
The Red Cross is always offering classes and there may be a nominal fee. If there is a cost for the program, a life possibly saved by the techniques taught is much more valuable than the cost. It may not always be a life saver, but at least an attempt was made.

The first responders thought may be that if they assist and the person does not recover they may face a law suit. It has been noted that administering the proper procedure increases the persons ability to survive. Unattended the life of the individual decreases every minute. There is a bit of t good Samaritan theory in most and the first impulse is to offer help. By helping may save the persons life.
It is a requirement for those who work in many stages of the medical field to have certification. It is not a requirement for all the public to be certified, however, it is a intelligent decision to know the steps to saving someone in a possible death defying incident. If nothing is done the victim may die.
Can first aid and CPR save lifes can be debatable. But it is better to act quickly and do what can possibly be done to help rather than stand by and do nothing. Knowing a bit about first aid administration is better than nothing at all.
