One of the primary reasons why people stop with their fitness regimens is because they do not feel like they are gaining an active benefit from their investment of time and effort. This sentiment is somewhat understandable, because it does take a while before the person who is participating in the activity is likely to see a physical change within themselves that allows them greater athletic capabilities.

This is because as people exercise, they are actually changing the biochemical processes within their body, and making it so that ultimately they will build up the capabilities of their body and be able to access more efficient stores of energy distribution. Many people do not realize this aspect of their fitness regimen, so they grow frustrated with their perceived lack of progress.

Even though there may not be an initial outpouring of physical improvement and stamina, the truth is that the body is being reconfigured as the user begins working out, and that the progress that cannot be seen is happening behind the scenes as the body attempts to streamline the processes that govern energy distribution. If the user is patient and allows this development to occur, then they can more easily make it through the initial hump of disappointment and find greater physical improvement.

Elliptical machines help mitigate this initial frustration because of the way that they are designed, as well as with their low impact workout sessions that focus on fluid movement and repetition instead of pain and exhaustion. One of the primary advantages of this piece of equipment is that it is an excellent transition piece, because it makes for a brisk workout that challenges the user and makes them feel like they have benefitted from the effort, instead of tiring them out or punishing them for being unable to immediately seize a higher exercise standard.

The elliptical machine works by simultaneously exercising several parts of the body in tandem with each other, utilizing the elasticity of the user's body and the properties of momentum and inertia to maintain the fitness regimen and aid the individual. Examining how the equipment works can provide valuable insight as to why it makes motion more efficient and allows the user to get more out of their actions.

The user's feet are secured in a set of foot mounts that are attached to a pair of bars that sweep back and forth in a forward motion that mimics the properties of skis or pedals. The person who is participating in the activity uses their legs to initiate a forward series of motion in order to power the moving parts of the equipment.

Aiding the person in this situation is the fact that the motion of the legs mimics the feelings of an exaggerated series of steps, and the difficulty involved in moving the bars around is not difficult to perform. The momentum that is gathered as the person on the device moves is used in rotating the feet back to their original position, using the properties of ovular motion to do so.

Attached to the foot mounts is a pair of handles that rise up to the chest level of the user, which can be used for balance as they dig in against the resistance of the device. These handles move back and forth toward the person's chest in direct relation to how the legs are moved.

In addition to providing a secure area to balance the user, it also works out the arms because they are repeatedly used to pull the handles back and forth, aiding the movement of the legs in the process. Therefore, the legs help the arms and the arms help the legs in this scenario, combining movement and effort into a series of progressions that lessens impact and conserves energy levels.

Using an elliptical machine allows for greater efficiency within a workout context, because of the way that the equipment is specifically designed to provide the most effective benefit possible to the participant with every movement that they take. Above all else, this fitness option stresses efficiency of motion, allowing for people to invest effort and exertion into the activity without fear of performing the actions will the wrong impetus or form, making for much more pure exercise sessions.
