There are many things that can cause you to lose sleep when you are pregnant. Here are a few of them and a few ways in which you can relieve these symptoms.

Once you reach the stage where you are half way pregnant it may seem like the days of good rest are over. The difficulty that you may experience in trying to fall asleep can be caused by a number of things.

As you know, it is not going to be any easier to get enough sleep after you deliver either as the baby will need to be fed every two hours, even through the night at first. The most common causes of lack of sleep include anxiety and stress, hormonal fluctuations, physical discomfort, and so on.

Physical discomfort can become the major factor later in your pregnancy because the baby is so big and squishing so much of you. It will be a common necessity to get up several times though out the night to use the bathroom.

This can start fairly early in your pregnancy as well. Another cause for physical discomfort is heart burn, which usually strikes sometime in the second trimester.

It is caused by the uterus pushing up against your stomach, which forces some of the acid back up the esophagus. This acid is the cause of the heartburn.

The baby itself can also make you lose sleep as it moves around. As it gets larger and stronger it will become more and more distracting from sleep.

It is not uncommon for mothers to worry themselves out of sleep as well. Many women worry about their unborn child and dwell on all of the things that may go wrong or that may happen to their child.

However, there are many good things that can happen, and are more likely to happen, as well. Lack of oxygen is another thing that can wake you up early.

As the baby grows larger, he or she is going to press against your lungs. This will make it hard to bring in enough oxygen to supply your body's demand and the growing demand of the baby for oxygen as well.

Fortunately, there are many things you can try to help relieve the symptoms of these side effects. The first thing you will want to make sure you do is drink enough fluid throughout the day, but try to drink it towards the morning and avoid liquids in the evening.

This will help cut down on how often you have to use the bathroom throughout the night. However, make sure that you do drink enough liquid because you do not want to get dehydrated.

Another thing you may want to try is sleeping in a semi upright position. This will help your stomach acid stay in your stomach and it will help open up your lungs so that you can breathe easier.

It can also be tempting to take antacids to cure your heartburn. However, you should make sure that you talk about it with your doctor before you do to make sure that the kind you have selected is okay for your unborn child.

It is a good idea to try to eat at least two hours before you plan to go to bed so that you have some time to digest it. This will also help prevent heartburn.

Of course, it can also help to avoid spicy and acidic food as wells as fried foods. Dairy products such as milk and yogurt can sometimes help water down the affect of the heartburn.

Perhaps the number one cause of lack of sleep is stress and anxiety. These things will not help get anything done and will not solve any problems.

Generally, the best way to let go your problems is to talk it out. Talk to your partner before you go to sleep every night and let go of the cares of the day.

Another thing that can help relieve stress and anxiety is exercising. Exercising can provide you will many other benefits to your as well as make delivery easier.

Of course, you must do it in such a way as you will not harm your baby. It is best to talk to your doctor before you exercise extensively, but exercising is good for you and something you can do even when you are pregnant.

Some women loved to work out on the treadmill before they became pregnant, but they worry that the jolting of landing on the ground time after time will not only harm their baby, but their overloaded feet. While running is probably not the best idea, you can still walk on your treadmill and gain the benefits of exercising.
