Are you starting to feel the effects of getting older? Unfortunately nobody can stop the ravages of time and the process of aging, but we can certainly slow it down with eating proper food and increasing our physical activities to keep ourselves supple, flexible and looking younger.
There are quite a number of things we can do and eat to avoid and prevent the symptoms of old age such as wrinkle formation, loss of memory, declining physical health, mental sharpness, onset of age related diseases such as heart problems, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, gray hair and the list goes on.
Since it is impossible to be young forever why not make an effort to slow down the aging process by keeping yourself fit as a fiddle by having a regular exercise program and eating the right foods? If you must grow old, then why not age gracefully and healthily?
Changing your eating habits coupled with a regular exercise routine not only can make you look and feel younger, they can even save your life and let you live longer. Don't you want that?
There are many reasons way we are getting older with time and two of the main reasons are the exposure to free radicals and the decline of our important hormones such as our human growth hormones (hgh) and testosterone. To counter the effect of the ravages of free radicals is to consume more antioxidants so as to mop up the free radicals which can play havoc to your cells.
Antioxidants can help you to prevent diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, Alzheimer's disease and high blood pressure. On the aesthetic side, they can reduce the formation of wrinkles and make your skin more supple.
Antioxidants can be found in many types of vitamins and therefore it is a good idea to supplement your meals with multi-vitamins and minerals since our absorption of these micro nutrients are also compromised as we age. Food items that are rich in antioxidants are all forms of edible berries, broccoli, spinach, green tea, garlic, fruits and tomatoes.
Avoid eating processed foodstuffs. You know, the foods that come in packed boxes or are chemically refined or processed. These type of foods has many nutritional defects, but that is for another article.
You should also eat less sugar laden foods as sugar is also a refined and processed food. Sugar will raise your blood sugar level and will also cause you to store body fat besides other health risks.
Okay, this is common sense but if you are a smoker, it is time to quit. If you are a regular drinker of alcoholic beverages, don't you think it is also time to stop alcohol consumption or to cut it down? Smoking not only puts you at risk with many age related diseases, it is also a cause for free radical proliferation.
As for alcohol, it is a toxin that can wreak havoc in your organs especially your brain and liver. Instead, drink plenty of good old plain water every day to flush your system of toxins and to hydrate yourself.
A regular exercise program is also very important. If you have joint problems, you can do low impact exercises like swimming, Taiji, yoga or riding a stationery bike. You should also do some weight training to strengthen yourself, your bones and muscles.
Exercise not only keeps you fit and healthy, it also helps your body to produce more of your anti aging hormones such as human growth hormones and testosterones. Some people even take growth hormones and testosterones booster supplements to help their bodies produce more of these hormones naturally. If you are deficient in these hormones, medical doctors can treat you with hormone replacement therapies.
So if you want to stay younger and live longer, eat that right foods and exercise regularly.
