Disc golf is a fun and lighthearted sport that is popular among those in college or people who want to have fun with a group. The sport is a hybrid of two existing concepts, and is played in a way that people can enjoy the outdoors and have a social experience at the same time.

Disc golf is a hybrid between Frisbee and golf, where the participants throw lightweight discs toward set targets. In early versions of the game, these targets were simply Hula Hoops laid down on the ground, with the intent of gliding in the equipment in to the hoop.

In modern iterations of the sport, there are a variety of discs that are used, each weighted differently so that they all have different properties. This helps mimic the effect that different drivers have in the game of golf, encouraging tactical game play and strategic thinking.

The objectives in the modern version of the sport are usually raised wire basket, with chains dangling into the basket itself from a higher pole. These chains allow the discs to strike the objective and lose their momentum, causing them to redirect or fall into the basket itself.

In most settings, participants begin the course from a good assistance away from the basket, and proceed to throw toward the goal. Players are given a set amount of throws that they are allowed to have before they hit "par", encouraging them to be accurate in their attempts.

The sport is usually played in a social setting, with other people. While keeping score is part of the game and encourages friendly competition, it is not an absolute necessity on the part of the participants.

If people want, they can dimply play for the sake of doing so. They can enjoy the experience of doing something lightly physical outside while in the company of friends.

This lighthearted mentality is one of the great aspects of disc golf. Since it is not necessary to form team or make the even an official one that requires extreme things out of its participants, it is a pleasant activity to engage in.

One of the primary ways that the sport is emphasized for participants is by the way that it incorporates the area around it into the game. Since the game is popular on college campuses, the course and "holes" that are laid out may cross over the outer parts of the campus.

This is a fun way for people to traverse around an area or landscape feature in a light and easy way. Many disc golf courses try to incorporate elements of the experience into the scenery, so that people get a visual experience to supplement their physical one.

In some cases, there are courses that go on for miles, and the participants are allowed many throws. This is partially a tongue in cheek poke at the conventional dynamics of golf, and also serves to highlight the versatility and ease of the sport.

Although the game is one that is casual in nature, completion is certainly possible if the participants want to engage in it. Since the properties of the discs have such an impact, achieving par on a long course is something that requires tactics and accuracy.

The sport then transform into a game of skill that can be thorough in its competitive properties. In either case, being able to participants in such a unique experience is sure to resonate with the people that are taking part in the activity.

This is a good way for a group of people to have fun and get to know each other better. They share an experience in a unique setting, and they begin to bond.

The casual nature of the experience is one of the greatest draws. Even those who are not usually considered athletes can partake with ease and have an enjoyable experience, and they in turn can convert their friends to the idea of further participation.

Disc golf is a light recreational sport that encourages fun and having an enjoyable experience. Although there are ways that it can be played in a competitive fashion, at its core it is all about having a good time with friends, and having a unique time while at it.
