Many people think that plastic surgery is cosmetic surgery. But it is not so because all corrective operations are essentially plastic surgery but all plastic surgeries are not cosmetic. As the name cosmetic triggers in mind, the surgery is also meant to make looks beautiful. To put it in simple words, the surgery is done to modify bad looking body parts into perfect ones.

How these operations where invented is not known though history may attribute it to the problems faced by people with damaged and beyond repair body parts. The early physicians used to replace those parts in order to mend one defect which cannot be lived with. However, the medical technique was further modified in modern times with the commencement of the world wars. There surgeons repaired the body parts of the soldiers injured badly during a fight.

But, this type of operation has nothing to do with medical treatment in the sense of repairing something damaged. It is simply an operation undergone by many only to enhance the attractive look of their body. Surgeries such as abdominoplasty, chemical peel and liposuction has gained popularity among people. These operations reduce the excessive flab on the body or patch up the ugly looking wrinkles that come about with age. There are various types of cosmetic surgery which also include; repairing forehead skin or making the nose perfect or broadening the lips or shifting the ears.

Basically this operation involves incision of body parts. The surgeons cut the body part, meant to be repaired, to replace or add tissues there. These tissues can be taken from the recipient only or from a donor. The tissues can also be cultured in case the patient is in lack of such tissues.

Though it is always said that everyone is perfect and beautiful in their own way, still people rush to look like their ideals. In the modern age of television and media broadcasts, ideals are no other than the film stars and the super models. In this race of looking like one of them, people are ready to go any extend. Though these operations are costly enough to be afforded yet many are literally mad about it. But, all these people must remember that like any other operation, going under the knife also has its pros and cons.

The risk involved in this type of operation, though less, may be permanently damaging. Many people get blot clots after the operation. This happens due to overflowing of blood while removing the upper skin. In severe cases this blood may even flow to turn the overlaying skin in a color of purple. Risk of blood loss and dying skin are major issues.

It is advised to all the patients to consult the doctor about any difficulties. The Doctor may require operating again, or, advise not to tamper the place. Smoking should be avoided as it limits the capacity of blood to carry oxygen. This may result in dying of new tissues implanted.

Corrective operations is a luxury. Body must be protected as it is. It is best to avoid such surgeries.
