Many have heard of the ancient art of Feng Shui, but still know a little about it. It is the rare person that knows there is a different Feng Shui for men than for women. Why is that? The answer is simple, yet not so obvious. Feng Shui is the art of choosing materials and their proper placement in order to generate the most beneficial sources of the flow of universal energy called Qi (sometimes spelled "chi"). Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art that has been practised for thousands of years.
Feng Shui works to organize the Qi energy and helps to channel it for the benefit of the persons using a room or a facility. It also tries to balance the five fundamental elements of nature which include earth, wind, fire, water, and metal. Each one of these elements can be represented in any space whether they exist there in actuality or by symbolic representation. For the Feng Shui to be balance, they all must be there in the proper proportions and in the proper positions.
It is the same with the polarity of the male and the female. This is expressed in the Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang which represent the polarity principal. The challenge between the opposites, their contradictions, their differences, and the ultimate of the merging of the opposites. In the classic tradition, the Yin is the female and the Yang is the male.
One representation of this principal is the circle with equal proportional teardrops that divide it perfectly - one representing the Yin in white and the other representing the Yang in black.. It is important also to note that each half of the Yin/Yang circle contains not only its primary color (black or white) and denotes its primary function (male or female) but each half also contains an indication of the polarity. On the white side there is a black spot in the center and on the black side there is a white spot in the center.
This is to remind everyone that the polarity is always there and the world derives from embracing the polarity of the yin and yang. This means it is important to achieve the embodiment of both energies in a holistic fashion.
The masculine principles are validated with a recognition of the importance of the feminine energy. The embodiment of the feminine principles are supported with the recognition of the importance of the masculine energy. Each revolves around the other, and together the combination makes harmony.
If a man is single, when he makes his living space, the choice of furniture and the layout can reflect a more positive masculine balance. But if that same man wants to have feminine energy represented properly in his living space he needs to consider it. If he has any woman visit him they will immediately react to any lack of feminine energy in the room. They may not say anything directly but they will appear to be uncomfortable. This does not mean a man needs to be frilly or have things that are overtly feminine in his living space.
What it does mean it that use of plants and water features (such as a fountain, an aquarium or even an elaborate fish pond) will makes his space more inviting to females and more in harmonious balance.
