Doctors have a responsibility towards ensuring that the patient is free of the health problem. For this, the doctor may require time and at the same time may expect the patient to behave in a certain manner. Patients sometime fail to keep up to the expectations of the doctor that sometimes leads to the adverse health conditions.

In such circumstances, the doctor may not be able to cure the health problem, but he may also have to have the patience in treating the patient in another manner. Patients need to understand that if they fail to behave in the expected manner, they not only get delayed in the treatment process, but there could also involve some costs.

The curative costs are usually higher than the preventive costs. Doctors also insist upon prevention through regular check-ups. Regular check-ups help doctors also identify diseases and other health problems at an early stage itself and this gets treated immediately with minimal use of medicines and other healthcare facilities.

However, patients tend to negligent and behave irresponsibly in this regard. They never show up to the doctor for the sake of the prevention. Only when a certain health problem increases to the extent of becoming unbearable, they rust to the doctor and expect the treatment to take place immediately.

But such a process is complicated and the doctor is aware about it. The doctor also needs time to understand and apply the treatment on the patient. The more time the patient waits in getting the treatment, the more time the doctor also takes in understanding and treating the disease. Besides, there is cost implication that many people do not consider at this point of time.

If they have been alert enough to get themselves periodically checked-up, then there will be little necessity of spending on the cure. Primary healthcare, which comprises most of prevention is less expensive and it also helps in identifying the health problem at the primary stage itself and cure it immediately.

However, if the health problem becomes complex without being identified during the initial stages, then the patient needs to spend more money on getting it cured. These expenses are higher compared to the normal expenses on preventive health check-ups even if carried out on regular basis,

The other aspect of patient responsibility is related to the doctor reviews and doctor ratings. The doctor reviews and doctor ratings are hosted by websites and anyone can post comments and opinions to review and rate a particular doctor.

Although this practice helps empower the patient and it gives an opportunity for him to speak out against any kind of malpractice undertaken by the doctor, yet it should be handled with certain responsibility.

There are hardworking and dedicated doctors who have been working to satisfy their patients since a long time, but have suddenly noticed that the doctor reviews and doctor ratings about them are completely negative. Sometimes, the perception of the patients can also be relative and they need to understand different sides before posting their reviews and ratings about doctors.
