While running on the treadmill can be incredibly convenient because you do not have to deal with bad weather or hiring a baby sitter, it can also be really nice to run outside in a beautiful location once in a while. In addition, while you are on vacation, you may not have access to a treadmill that you can use, but you will have the opportunity to run in a new location.

There are many places that have absolutely stunning landscapes and which you do not want to pass up the opportunity to explore. One of the places you may want to jog around while you are there is Anchorage, Alaska.

Anchorage features a pleasant coastal trail that is 11 miles in length. It follows the coast, so you will have a wonderful view of the ocean and the rocky coast of Alaska.

This area is commonly inhabited by beluga whales. If you are lucky enough to go jogging on the right day, you may be able to spot several of these magnificent creatures.

Another area that you may not think of exploring in this manner is New York. However, New York features many routes loved by thousands of runners that inhabit the city.

While central park may be the first place you think of exercising when you are in New York, it is too short and easy to be really rewarding. However, many runners love to run the interior perimeter loop of the world's most famous urban green space.

This loop is 6.1 miles in length and allows you to view several of the major attractions in this area. It passes by the Central Park Zoo, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the John Lennon peace memorial at Strawberry Fields, and several other locations.

If you are interested in an even longer route, you can continue on the cinder path that circles the Reservoir. This loop is 1.58 miles and it is famous because of Dustin Hoffman.

Dustin Hoffman ran this loop in the 1976 thriller Marathon Man. A third area that you will want to explore is Austin, Texas.

Austin is full of people alive with the spirit of Texas. These people have a strong culture and they are very friendly.

There are many runners that you can join on the Town Lake Trail. The Town Lake Trail is 10.1 miles in length.

It is well maintained with stone post mile markers, water stops, restrooms, a reflecting pond, skyline views, and lots of company. This sunny area can be a wonderful place to enjoy the sunrise from as you cruise along this loop.

A fourth area that you will want to run around while you are there is San Francisco, California. There are many tourist attractions in San Francisco and parking fees are horrendous in the tourist area.

A great way to visit many of these attractions is to simply run there from your hotel. In San Francisco, you will be able to visit Alcatraz Island, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, China town, the Golden Gate Bridge, and so forth.
You can make your route however long or short you would like. There is something that will interest everyone in this area.

A fifth location that you will want to make sure you explore is London. London is a very historical city that maintains some beautiful parks.

There are three main parks. If you run around all three, you will have performed a nice 10 kilometer loop.

The first park is Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens. The Kensington Gardens are 615 acres in size and they contain gorgeous flower bed after flower bed.

There are also wide stretches of well maintained lawns where you will be able to stretch easily. The second is Green Park which contains a variety of tree-lined trails.

This is nice during the summer as most of these paths are shaded. The last is St. James's Park.

St. James's Park contains Duck Lake, appropriately named for all of the birds that live there. It also gives you a nice view of Buckingham Palace.

Many consider St. James's to be the most beautiful of the three. You may want to take your camera with you so that you can capture these beautiful sites.

The next area you will want to make sure you jog in is Vancouver, British Columbia. Vancouver contains a mixture of rocky landscapes and thick, green forests.

This combination provides a stunning landscape for you to explore. You will be glad you spent all of that time training on the treadmill so that you could be ready to experience these wondrous places.
