Thousands of people suffer from the debilitating pain of migraines every year. Some people have them so bad that they must deal with one or more migraine attacks each week. Unfortunately, nobody has found a true cure for the migraine headache.

Most people do not even realize that the headache is a migraine until the pain leaps to a level that puts them in bed fighting off nausea, dizziness, and pain.

Most simply take one of a variety of over the counter medicines for pain and pray that they will get some relief soon.

Chinese medicine, as it has been practiced for over 5000 years, offers several treatments for migraine that do not involve any drugs whatsoever. According to the Chinese, the onset of a migraine is an indication that there is an imbalance between the mind, body, and environment.

Traditional Chinese medicine uses a homeopathic approach to treat the entire person and restore this balance. Three major methods are used for the treatment of the migraine and restoration of the mind, body balance with the outside world. These are acupuncture, Chinese massage, and dietary supplementation using various herbs and natural substances.

Acupuncture is a very old Chinese practice that has been shown to have positive results in treatment of pain of many different types, including migraine. The needles are placed along the major meridians of energy flow through the body to help gently ease it back into proper alignment. Many people do not believe in the validity of acupuncture, yet many western doctors have started recognizing its value as an aid in treating the pain of arthritis, low back and neck pain, and even the debilitating pain of a migraine.

A Chinese massage, performed in a true spa like setting instead of an antiseptic clinic environment, consists of different levels of therapy designed to help the body relax and to restore the proper flow of energy to bind the mind and body to the outside world in perfect balance. The process begins as soon as one enters the Chinese massage parlor and begins to hear soft instrumental music filtering through the site.

The person is given a robe and pair of sandals to relax in. the scents of incense and many different essential oils fill the air to promote total relaxation so that when the massage actually begins, the muscles being manipulated relax completely and allow the energies to flow back into their normal pathways to restore balance.

This process works on different levels to release the pain from the body. It can often relieve the pain of a migraine so effectively that the person is able to return to work and function for the rest of the day without needing any additional pain medication.

In addition to the benefits of acupuncture and Chinese massage, herbal dietary supplements are often used as preventatives and as treatments for various physical ailments.

The herbs chosen have been used for so long and their value proven, they are beginning to be recognized by western supplement manufacturers and added to many products.
