Installing machine safety guards is an integral part for any company that operates in an industrial environment. In order to sell the coverings, the manufacturers have to abide by strict guidelines created by OSHA. These guidelines are designed to ensure the equipment being installed will provide adequate protection for companies and their employees. Since a safe work environment is the number one rule, better protection equals safer work areas and that makes everyone happy.

The expandable gate systems allow a company to block off access to virtually anything. This system is used to cordon off isles in hardware stores during restocking times or keep people away from dangerous chemicals in drums. The options are really pretty much endless and this makes them very useful in construction and warehouse environments.

When working with drill presses and lathes, chips and debris that are bound to fly out, so having adequate eye protection is crucial. For this reason there are plastic coverings which fit around the drill bit itself and prevent shavings from going anywhere but down. Lathes have specially designed windows that keep any particles from flying into the eyes of the operator.

In an effort to keep people who are visiting the work site safe, rail systems can be installed. Some of these systems are mobile where others are permanent depending on what is required. For buildings that allow roof access to employees, there is a system available that does not penetrate the roof structure but provides adequate protection from accidental falls.

Some machines have bearings exposed and must be covered to prevent any injuries from happening. Because of this reason, manufacturers offer a variety of coverings that are available in all shapes and sizes including rectangular models. These covers are made to close off any exposed areas of the machinery and provide additional protection for the operators.

If machinery sound is a problem, a collapsible wall unit can be set up that will cut down the noise and add protection as well. Coverings such as these also provide protection for machinery that is undergoing maintenance as well. In order to provide adequate access to these enclosures, the system has a built in door that has the capability of being locked.

For environments that use conveyor belt units, a laser scanner is available for installation. This unit creates a security grid that detects any movement that might occur in the area. What makes this so useful is when the scanner detects movement the machines automatically shut down. This type of fail safe device helps to ensure nobody gets hurt from objects coming off the conveyor system and is great to have in high flow environments.

While searching for the right machine safety guards a recommendation is to have a professional company come in and perform an inspection. This will not only help address the unsafe areas, it will also allow a company to purchase the right equipment the first time. Being prepared and installing the right precautions will help create a safe working environment for everyone.
