One of the careers that lends itself least to exercising is business because most of those who work for a particular business will spend most of his or her time sitting at a desk. If these people do not carefully watch what they eat and exercise regularly, they will gain weight.
Unfortunately, many people do end up gaining weight simply because they do not feel like they have time to exercise. Many business men and women run very hectic lives, but this does not make exercising any less important.
There are many exercises that you can perform at your desk which will help you keep your body in alignment, healthy, and strong. These activities can wake you up so that you will be more productive and effective as well.
There are many benefits to exercising that extend way beyond simply avoiding weight gain or maintaining a certain weight. One of the first things you may want to try is doing is a casual side stretch.
Doing a side stretch not only feels good after hours of sitting a chair, but it also reminds you to think about your posture and how you are sitting. Your daily posture can affect your long term healthy as slouching can lead to back pain and other issues.
If you are concerned about drawing attention to yourself, place your hands on your hips instead of in the air and lean slightly to one side. You should still be able to feel the nice pull on your side, but you will draw less attention to yourself.
Remember to be careful though. You are not in a gym and you are not wearing comfortable clothes.
As a result, it is very important that you are mindful of the chair you are sitting in so that you do not fall over. Otherwise, you will draw a lot of attention to yourself.

Arm raises can be performed by moving your arms straight over your head, to the sides, and behind you. The different directions will make sure that you work out different muscles.
If you move them in a controlled manner, you will be able to increase your heart rate and boost your metabolism. This activity can also wake you up and make you more productive.
In addition, it will help stave off carpal tunnel syndrome, poor circulation, and weight gain. This activity should also be done several times a day, particularly if you are constantly typing.
The third exercise you may want to consider doing is butt squeezes. Butt squeezes are probably the least noticeable activity that you could do in the office.
All you have to do is conscious squeeze those muscles. You can do this exercise while you are performing your other office duties.
Many people develop this habit because it can help you maintain a smaller butt and avoid the 'office chair spread' that is all too common. The fourth exercise that you may want to try is leg lifts.
Leg lifts can be performed from your office chair. Simply lift your legs out in front of you.
Moving your legs can help get the circulation going and can provide you will some of the benefits of exercising. You may want to march your feet quietly or perform toe lifts.
A fifth activity that you may want to try is simply doing some head rolls. Your neck has the difficult task of holding up your head all day, every day.
As a result, stretching it out can relieve a lot of the strain of performing this difficult task. This can make a huge difference in how your day goes as you will let go of some of the stress that you are dealing with and it will also help you get your circulation going so that you will be able to think more clearly.
By performing a few simple activities such as these, you will be able to relieve a lot of the tension that develops both in your muscles and in your brain throughout the day. By relieving this tension periodically so that it does not build up, you will be able to return home a happier person.
