When you hear the word diet, most people often relate it to skipping meals instead of eating less, which in turn does not promote the proper weight loss. However, what it does is quicken the development of fatty layers in your stomach, in which a lengthened absence of food gives your body a chance to increase its fat storage in order to provide you with energy that comes from a natural source.

Eventually, your body will start reacting and begin to burn off muscle, which is very much capable of getting rid of all those calories instead of the fat to conserve a lot of energy. What happens next will be an unwanted result - muscle mass is greatly reduced and your metabolism starts slowing down, increasing your chances of becoming fatter.

Knowing all this, you should then realize that skipping meals is never the best way to go when trying to lose weight. After all, you'd want to go dieting for abs right? So, it's only fair to know that skipping meals is not effective at all in wanting to grow a set of abdominal muscles that people will go ga-ga over, despite what you may have heard from your peers.

If you want to develop that washboard stomach, then you'll most likely have to resort to six meals. To be more specific, it's breaking down your three regular meals into six small portions in order for you to still have enough energy for a workout, and you won't be starving yourself to death.

With six meals being your diet of choice, you allow yourself to eat more often in order for your body to avoid storing fat deposits, since it'll develop a biological schedule of anticipating food intake every six hours.

Another thing to keep note of is your metabolic rate. The metabolism of the human body increases when you eat regularly, as it continues to feed your muscles and avoids your body's dependency on them for sustenance.

If you want to work with an effective diet to develop those toned muscles on your stomach, leading to that oh-so-sexy six pack, all you need to do is simply start the day with a healthy breakfast after an hour of waking up. As cliche as it sounds, breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day, and with good reason - it kicks your metabolism into high gear, preventing any occurrence of starvation.

Always remember to carefully plan out your diet, making sure it includes the consumption of natural foods. Processed and junk foods are always a no-no, since they'll just eventually add to your burden especially with all the chemicals and unwanted toxins they would supply your body with. What you should focus on are the fiber-rich foods, such as grain, nuts, fish, meat, vegetables and fruit.

Anything that is rich in fiber also includes a hefty amount of protein, fats, carbs and other nutrients essential to the body's need to function properly. Apart from this, they also provide you with the energy to constantly perform exercise programs and regimens which will greatly aid you in your quest to develop your tummy into something worth gawking at. Dieting for abs only takes a healthy food plan and regular exercise, after all.
