Elliptical machines are considered new in the world of health and fitness. Since it was introduced into the health and fitness industry, elliptical trainers have been welcomed by many in the fitness industry and are featured in most gyms everywhere.

The first elliptical machines were introduced into the fitness industry by the company called Prector in 1995. It was seen as the first machine offering cardiovascular workout with minimal impacts.

Elliptical machines were seen as a fitness equipment that offers a preferred pattern of movement. This preferred method of movement is the egg-shaped or oval pattern created by the foot pedals of the elliptical machine.

This oval shaped pattern of movement is made to stimulate natural strides when one is walking but without the impact that comes with running or hiking. Reebok then sought to improve the elliptical trainer machine from the original.

They sought to improve from the Prector model by creating a total-body work out machine instead of just exercising the lower half of the body. To achieve this, Reebok created the personal trec which features handles that are pumped to work the upper half of the body creating a complete whole body workout machine.

Futhermore, they also improved the striding technology that allowed their elliptical trainer to feature a more natural walking and striding movement than any other elliptical machines. The fitness industry continues to develop this system of whole body workout in their elliptical machines.

Some machines still feature bottom half work-out systems without the handle bars but many are preferring elliptical trainers that features handles that are pumped as customers are becoming more conscious of being in shape. New improvements on elliptical machines allows the customers to change the settings to suit their own personal needs.

In modern elliptical trainers, the user can adjust their own stride length, resistance and incline among many other features. Treadmills have been around for a long time and running is natural for humankind.

However, there are problems associated with simply running as a form of exercise. Running can put a strain to the joints and elliptical trainers were created in order to address this particular issue.

Elliptical trainers are a form of weight-bearing exercise. It is found to work the whole body without the need for different types of machines.

This provides convenience as it can be purchased and used in the home without requiring many other exercise machines to get a complete workout. This is great for those who wants to work out each part of their body and be a whole-rounded and healthy person but have limited budget for different exercise machines.

Elliptical trainers come in many shapes and sizes. Each elliptical machines would also have different features, with some trainers having more sophisticated and advances features than others.

Choosing the right elliptical trainer can be difficult and overwhelming and many have no clue on where to start. However, be assured that there is a perfect trainer to best suit the workout needs of each customer in the market.

Customers looking for an elliptical machine need to consider their budget, the features most important for them, the size of the elliptical trainer. The amount of maintenance needed to keep the elliptical in good condition should also be considered.

Weight-bearing machines such as the elliptical trainers has the benefit and advantages similar to running or walking and any other weight-bearing exercises. However, elliptical trainers add an extra benefit in that is does not have the impact that running or other weight-bearing exercises have.

Weight-bearing exercises have been known to have impacts on joints thereby hurting the joints in the long run. Elliptical trainer help to minimize this impact as it allows the same running or walking motion without the feet actually touching the ground.

This therefore, provides the same cardiovascular exercise similar in health benefits to other weight-bearing exercises while not having a hurtful impact on the joints of the person exercising. It benefits those with current injuries and joint-pains allowing them to remain healthy and fit.

It is great to just be in shape and a big part of being in shape is to be exercise regularly. Many believe that they can be healthy by just dieting or walking every now and then but cardiovascular exercise is needed to be in shape.

Exercise also needs to be done regularly and it does not have to be difficult. Exercising regularly a couple of times a week will benefit one's health and with elliptical trainers, one can exercise regularly with ease.
