Can Hynotherapy Help You To Lose Weight?

Hypnosis sessions can help you on many positive things such as busting anxiety, quitting smoking or alcohol abuse, correcting negative behaviors and even losing weight among many other things. However, before we continue with how hypnosis can help you to lose weight, I wish to explain away some misunderstandings many people have about hypnotism.

Somehow, many people have the impression that when a person is undergoing hypnotherapy, the patient is unconscious and is at the mercy of the hypnotherapist. The hypnotherapist at this point in time will have full control of the faculties of the person under treatment and have the power to make the patient do anything the therapist want such as making the patient mew like a cat or sing like a bird.

You know something? That is completely untrue and must be debunked now! What the therapist do is to put the patient in a very relaxed state, the patient is still conscious of what is going on and can hear what the therapist is saying clearly. The patient can also walk away to attend to other chores if so required to do so.

The reason you are put in a very relaxed state during a hypnosis session is so that your conscious mind (logical mind) is not so active so that positive suggestions can be made into your subconscious mind to achieve the changes you want, for this instance, losing weight. This is to circumvent the conscious mind because if your conscious mind is active and the suggestion made to you is that you "you like to eat healthy foods", your conscious mind will say, hey that is not true and rejects the suggestion before it can be embedded into your subconscious mind.

Another example is that if your conscious mind is active and it is suggested to you that you "enjoy exercising in the gym" which in effect you don't, your logical mind will again reject such a suggestion.

Therefore the idea in hypnosis is to relax your conscious mind so that the positive suggestions can enter into your subconscious unobstructed and then you will act on these suggestions naturally and become someone who likes to eat health foods and someone who enjoys exercising in the gym and thereby losing weight as a result from those suggestions turning into actions.

So now that you know how hypnosis works on you, you must also know that undergoing one on one hypnotherapy can be very expensive. The good news is that many hypnotherapists know that and they have made recordings of the various hypnosis sessions on CDs and MP3s in order to make them affordable to the public.

So if you have something which you want to achieve such as losing weight and have not been very successful, why not give weight loss hypnosis a try?
