As the old adage goes, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression". True. You don't, you can't. First impressions are not always accurate, in fact, we often find they are not, but first impression can make the difference in a job interview, when auditioning for a play or musical, when trying to get a date, or in meeting people for the first time. A beautiful, white, confident smile is welcoming and inviting. It is hard to have confidence in a smile that has chipped, brown or crooked teeth.

Where would our pop culture be without straight, white, even teeth? Can you imagine Carrie Underwood, Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt with crooked, discolored teeth? That would never fly. On screen, their teeth are a foot long and eight inches wide, they have to be perfect and they are. Texas certainly has had it's share of stars through the years, singers, actors, dancers, but none bigger than our own Elvis Presley.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born to Gladys and Vernon Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi's, on January 8, 1935. He was born a twin, but unfortunately, his twin brother Jessie Garon was stillborn. His parents never had other children, so Elvis grew up an only child. He graduated from Humes High School in 1953 in Memphis where his family moved when he was 13.

At nineteen years old, Elvis began his singing career with Sun Records label in Memphis. A little over a year later, his recording contract was sold to RCA Victor. He quickly became an overnight success. He starred in 33 successful films, was a regular on television with appearances and specials, but his real fame came through his amazing ability to perform live, on stage. He toured often and was a regular in Las Vegas. He could mesmerize a crowd like no other. It is stunning to watch footage of his tours and witness the crowd's adoration and infatuation with him bordering on worship. Elvis, that talented, good looking, sensual, charismatic, star with the straight, white teeth and endearing smile took the world by storm.
