The nurse practitioner, or NP, is trained in the treatment, care, and management of a number of acute and chronic conditions. Although there are NPs who hold a bachelor degree in nursing, in order to successfully compete for the nurse practitioner jobs in acute care, it is necessary to continue with education after receiving a bachelor degree as a registered nurse to become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, ACNP. It is also necessary to pass an additional state exam to be licensed as a NP.

Other areas that the registered NP can become specialized in are general pediatrics, pediatric oncology, family health care, adult health, female health, gerontology, emergency medicine, and neonatology. The NP must have earned at least a bachelor degree in nursing, or a masters degree with additional specialized training in a specific field.

Additionally, the registered practitioner must pass an exam to be licensed in the state where they live to be able to practice. For instance, a pediatric NP is trained to provide personalized care for infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents over and above their training as an RN and must hold a license that allows them to do so. When seeking employment, prior experience is always helpful, however there is continually a demand for the registered NP so it is easy to gain experience.

There are health care staffing services that work with medical institutions and health care professionals to locate positions for the NP as well as other health care related professionals such as occupational therapy jobs, physical therapy assistant jobs, physical therapy jobs, and speech pathology jobs. For individuals who prefer not to be tied down to a specific hospital or region, travel nurse jobs are ideal. The pay for traveling RNs is very good and the person is able to travel around the US and gain experience.

Traveling may also be perfect for the NP who wishes to travel and perhaps work in specific hospitals or facilities. The health care staffing agencies can help find positions throughout the United States that meet the needs of the NP as well as the institution. There is always a need for the NP in a number of facilities such as clinics, hospitals, primary health centers, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers.

The acute care registered NP for instance, will find a number of challenging positions with very appealing compensation in settings that are particular to their specific specialization. The health care staffing agencies are able to match the NP, and other health care experts, with institutions or facilities in need of qualified professionals.

Due to the growth in the health care industry, the experienced NP will continue to be an asset to any medical organization or facility. In addition, there is room for upward mobility since the NP is able to diagnose, treat, and have an education in nursing. The competent NP is often credited for the success of an institution.

The national average pay for nurse practitioner jobs is a little over eighty thousand dollars annually. This amount does not include benefits packages that are offered by various institutions. Anyone interested in a career in the health care field may want to thoroughly investigate the benefits and rewards of becoming a registered NP.
Author Resource:- The medical field is an ever-expanding field that is much needed because of the aging population. There is an especially high demand for travel nurse jobs and speech pathology jobs
