Discover a few essential tips on using a sauna in the summer, and have the best possible time you can. Whether you are going to visit a public one at a club, or one in your own home there are a few things that you need to know and a few that will help you enjoy your time in a steam room.

The first thing you need to know is that pregnant women should check with their doctors before entering a sauna at any time, it could be a danger to the baby. Also people who have high blood pressure or heart problems need to ask their physician before they enter a sauna.

Showering before you enter any sauna is another great tip. Beside for the fact that it is not very hygienic, taking a shower before your go into a steam room will actually help you sweat more and this helps to clean out your pores. Taking a cool shower after you come out will close your pores and your skin will be soft and perfectly cleansed, plus in the summer it feels great to get out of a hot sauna and take a cool shower.

Another good idea, which may sound a little strange at first, is to use green birch branches or something similar to a whisk to gently hit yourself or your partner. The branches of a green birch are very delicate and do not hurt you, but they will loosen and dead skin cells and stimulate your circulation.

When you are using a steam room it is always nice to have aromatic fragrances, but you might not know that they can also have a great affect on your mood and possibly even your health. One good tip is that these should be used moderately, only a few drops of peppermint or eucalyptus in a full pail of water is enough when you need to place some water on the hot rocks.

When you add essential oils they will awaken your sense of smell and create a relaxing environment, this of course will improve your mood. Adding oils for health reasons can be two-fold. Psychiatrists that use mood therapy believe that these are therapeutic to your mind, and physicians know that when using oils in a sauna, the steam will help to boost your immune defenses.

We all know that summer colds are awful, but few of us know that a sauna in the summer will actually help your cold. If you use the right oil you will end up improving your immune system, and maybe even kill those cold germs and aid in getting you back to good health faster.

People tend to think of using a sauna in the winter time, especially an outdoor one, but using one in the summer is terrific too. Follow the above tips, especially the ones for people with health conditions, and you can have a wonderful experience by getting into a steam room and then cooling off with a nice shower, and being very relaxed afterward.
