Whenever summertime begins to loom large on the horizon, more and more people begin to understand the connection between contact lenses and summer. It doesn't take many warm days for the average glasses-wearing individual to realize that his bulky frames are limiting his enjoyment of the season. The fact is that contacts are the best way for the average person with poor vision to enjoy almost every kind of summertime activity.

How they differ

To understand the real benefits of contacts, it is important to look at each kind of eye wear. Glasses are easy to put on and take off, as they rest upon the nose and along the ears. However, they are set some distance from the actual eye, leaving a gap that creates a host of visual difficulties, including glare from the sun.

By contrast, contacts eliminate these difficulties. Since they are placed flush with the eyeballs, there is no space to distort what the eye sees. Also eliminated are the possibilities for glare, water spots, and other common causes for distortions. In addition to those reasons, there are many other summer-related issues that are best resolved by wearing contacts.

The season is unique

No one can argue with the unique entertainment that this season brings. Hot weather and vacationing kids make it the ideal time of year for any family to get out of the house and do things in the great outdoors. Many times, these adventures focus on days spent at the local pool or at a nearby lake or campsite where water is in abundance.

Those who wear glasses can seldom enjoy the water without at least some type of restriction. Without glasses, the vision is blurry and it is even difficult to properly watch the children. With them, water spots and glare are a constant worry. When wearing contacts, however, these people can suddenly enjoy the water in every respect. And yes, they can even swim with contacts in their eyes, provided that they exercise common sense and not open their eyes underwater.

The sunglasses debate

Of course, no discussion of summertime adventures can be had without at least some mention of sunglasses. There are few people who fail to appreciate the value of a stylish pair of sun-blocking glasses, but eye glass wearers seldom get to enjoy the full range of options. They are pretty much limited to clip-on accessories, which usually come in only a select few varieties.

Contacts are another thing entirely. People who wear these little gems are able to choose any pair of sunglasses they desire. It is no wonder that so many style conscious consumers choose to wear contacts during the hot months of the year, and often do so with this particular benefit in mind.

With all of that in mind, it is clear to see just how much of a difference a good pair of contacts can make when it comes to summertime activities. After all, the only other way to fully remove the restrictions of glasses is to undertake expensive eye surgery. For most people, taking advantage of the natural relationship between contact lenses and summer is a much better alternative.
