The industry of weight loss is one fraught with all sorts of myths. It seems everywhere one turns there is a contradicting story about what is good and not good for losing weight. Since the facts seem to get tangled in with the myths, it's good to get some clarification. That's why there are some myths to avoid that are outlined below.

The first myth has to do with breakfast. It has been said that one needs to kick start their metabolism in order to get it going each day. This is not necessarily true. While it is important to eat something within the first few hours of waking up, it is not necessary to eat right out of bet. Most people aren't hungry by that point. That's why one should listen to their body and only eat when they're hungry - at least a few hours after they've gotten up.

The second myth has to do with avoiding snacks. They say snacking is not good for the body. Really, snacking can be wonderful for the body. It can help to curve the appetite so one is not too hungry for the next meal. It's all about proportions. So snacking really can be great if done in moderation with healthy choices.

Another myth is that everyone should avoid all fats at all costs. This is not necessarily true. There is such a thing as healthy fats. The body needs certain fats in order to function. Healthy fats can be found in olive oil and avocados, too. Healthy fats help the body to feel fuller for longer and provide certain nutrients that cannot be found anywhere else.

The fourth myth one should be aware of is that only exercise is needed in order to lose weight. That is not true, at all. The diet has much to do with losing weight. Some of the best Asheville weight loss methods combine diet, exercise and hormone control to perfectly suit the needs of those who have struggled with losing weight. There are multiple factors that play into losing weight, which is why it's important to combine both exercise and diet in the quest for weight loss.

Finally, it is a myth that staying off the scale can help. The fact of the matter is that everyone should weigh in at least once a week. This helps to keep people on target and keep their minds on the goal. One will not be motivated without progress. The scale is the best way to do that.
