In the West we have a problem, we have a pre occupation with food. So what we enjoy eating is that such a sin. Well in itself this is not a problem unless we eat too much, that is when it starts to cause us a problem.

Over eating over a period of time means we gain weight, most of that weight is due to deposits of fat around the body. Although the human body is designed to store fat too much can make us unhealthy.

Whilst carrying too much extra weight is not a problem in itself it is the health problems that it can cause which worries us. Obesity can cause serious health problems which can lead to a deterioration in the quality of our lifestyle and in extreme cases be fatal.

In an ideal world we would all exercise and diet and watch what we eat so we maintained a perfect weight. Unfortunately most of us do not live in an ideal world so do not have the time or inclination to prepare special diets and stick to a rigid exercise plan.

There are many different types of diet all of which require you to adhere to an eating plan that is strange to us. These diets are developed by people who know nothing about us personally so how can they tell us what to eat to lose weight.

Lots of these so called fad diets also require to eat food we would never usually eat or may not even like. This makes most diets a chore which we soon give up on. So what is the alternative.

A diet should not be called a diet but but a healthy eating plan, something you can maintain over a longer period as part of a healthy lifestyle.

An eating plan rather than a diet removes a lot of the problems people have with losing weight. People do not want to lose weight they want to shift the fat that sits in all those places we do not want it.

The great thing about an eating plan rather than a diet is that you can include the nice things you like to eat. People want to shift the fat they do not want to get the look they like and a healthier body they need.

It has always been that when people take up fad diets where they have to radically change their lifestyles these diets often fail. The problem is not usually the diet itself but being able to maintain that diet regime.
