When you're struggling with having a positive body image, it's easy to see nothing in the mirror but your "problem areas." Women and men alike feel an insatiable desire to burn love handles, obliterate belly flab, trim thunder thighs, and eliminate rolls from the back.

But it's not easy. We hear the incessant repetition of the importance of diet and exercise, but unfortunately, we need more specifics in order to sculpt the body we crave. Let me give you some tips to navigate you toward toning those problem areas and shape up and build up your self-confidence.

Fitness experts are changing their tack toward cardiovascular routines. They say that instead of steady, prolonged sessions on the treadmill or elliptical, it is more advisable to go through four or five-minute intervals of intense activity with short low-activity rests in between. multiple studies have shown that participants using this method lost significantly more weight than those remaining at a steady, less intense pace for a longer period of time.

When you engage in strength training, make sure you are using proper form and/or following the instructions for the machines you use. In part, this is to avoid unnecessary injury, but doing each exercise properly ensures that you will actually target and work the correct muscle group.

This might seem like such basic advice, but I can tell you that poor form is rampant among amateur weight lifters, so you may benefit from a one-on-one walkthrough with a personal trainer or gym manager to make sure you get off on the right foot.

The key to all-over fat burn is to frequently change up your routine and integrate all kinds of aerobic exercise. While I love to hit the gym, I also play badminton and volleyball and hike on the weekends. My spouse enjoys paintballing and basketball. Both of us then work all of the major muscle groups. Since we started pursuing these physical hobbies, we've both lost weight, especially in troublesome spots like hips, belly, and thighs.
You don't have to be specifically devoting your time to fitness in order to tone those problem areas! When you're on the telephone, get up and do lunges or lift a small hand weight. During your favorite TV show's commercial break, run up and down the stairs, or watch a movie while sitting on a balance ball, which burns a surprising amount of calories more than just sitting on the sofa. Stomach toning exercises can be done in the office in between projects and e-mails.

Don't ever give up. Women in particular have to be dedicated in order to achieve the results they hope for, but they are not out of reach, so keep it up!
