If you want to accomplish two things at the same time, try gardening your way to better fitness. Preparing and planting a flower garden can be great physical exercise, and can make your yard beautiful in the process.

If you want to get in better shape for your health but you do not feel like you have the time, try incorporating it into a chore that is already on your to-do list. With spring already here and summer around the corner, gardening is a great way to improve your physical health, while making your yard beautiful at the same time.

There are many yards that are not aesthetically pleasing. One of the elements that you may want to add to your new yard may be a flower bed.

Flower beds can add a tremendous amount of color and life to a dull yard. However, it may be difficult to know how to get started.

The first thing you will want to do is clear the ground or area where you would like your flower bed to be. You will need to remove all of the grass, weeds, and other things that would hinder the healthy growth of your flowers.

When you are weeding and clearing ground, make sure that you are keeping your abs tensed, so that they are strengthening your core while you work. This can also be a great form of cardio if you are working hard.

In general, weeds and grass will voraciously grow where you do not want them. As a result, in your flower bed, they will grow quickly and overwhelm the flowers if you do not remove them.

The easiest way to stay on top of the weeds and grass is to remove everything, prepare the soil, plant the flowers, and then remove the weeds that come up when they are tiny. When the weeds are tiny, they do not have enough of a root system to cause damage to your flowers when you pull them out.

The smaller the roots, the less labor it will take to remove them as well. Not only do weeds and grass threaten your beautiful flowers, but they make the bed look messy and untidy.

This takes away from the beauty of your flowers as well. As a result, it is critical that you remove all of the weeds, and all parts of the weeds.

Work quickly and efficiently, so that you keep your heart pumping the whole time. This will help you to get a great strength-training workout in while you are working.

Some people assume that as long as the top of the soil appears clear, they are free of the weed problems. However, dandelions and other troublesome weeds can quickly grow back if a small part of their root is left in the ground.

You must remove all parts of these weeds, or they will come back quickly. This will result in the need for you to spend more time weeding.

The first way to remove them is to weed by hand. It is definitely helpful to have hand tools, such as a flat spade, when you are weeding by hand.

When you pull out a weed, you may notice that there is a lot of dirt that gets caught in the roots. You will want to save as much of this dirt as possible, so that your flowerbed does not end up being a hole in your yard.

When you are bending, be sure to bend with your knees, not your back, so that you do not injure yourself in any way. This will also give you a chance to work on the strength of your legs.

Most of the time, you can easily remove the dirt by simply shaking the weeds. The dirt that falls off often contains a variety of nutrients that is essential to the health and growth of your flowers.

Clearing a large area by hand can be a lot of work and it can take a long time. You will want to make sure that you perform this task when the temperatures are not too warm, and you will want to make sure that you have plenty of water with you-make it your weekend workout!

Another method you may want to turn to instead is using a sod cutter to cut the grass you do not want into strips. This is particularly effective if the area you want clear is full, thick grass.

The next time you have yard work to do, think of it as a great way to improve your strength and fitness at the same time. Your body and your yard will be happy with the results.
