Obesity can be a contributing cause to a variety of different chronic health issues. As a result, it is very important to watch your weight and take steps to maintain a healthy weight.

Many studies have found that those who are overweight do not gorge themselves every day. Instead, they simply eat about one hundred extra calories than they need throughout the day.

Overtime, these extra calories build up if they are not used properly. There are a couple of ways to remove this extra weight and to stop consuming more calories than you need.

The first method is to simply eat less. However, this method is often much more successful if it is combined with the second method of getting some physical activity.

Exercise can provide you with many other benefits in addition to helping you lose weight and maintain a normal weight level. There are many different ways that you can get exercise on a regular basis.

In addition, it does not take very long to burn only 100 calories. You do not need to make a huge time commitment to lose weight.

However, you will need some self-discipline so that you will do it every day. The first way you may want to burn these extra calories is to ride an exercise bike for about 13 minutes vigorously.

This can be enough to eliminate the extra 100 calories that tend to be eaten on a daily basis.

A second activity that you may want to consider is hiking. Hiking allows you to go outside and enjoy the fresh air and nature.

For a 150 pound person, it is estimated that he or she can burn 121 calories in only 15 minutes of brisk hiking. Of course, these numbers will vary depending on the type of trail you are on, how fast you push yourself, and how much you weigh.

One of the benefits of hiking is that it does not require a lot of equipment to perform. You can simply take off with a water bottle and good pair of shoes to enjoy your favorite places in nature.

It is best if you can hike for four to six days every week for about an hour. In addition, it is advisable to go on a number of different trails of different difficulties and lengths so that you can avoid hitting a plateau.

A plateau is where your body gets used to the exercise and no longer improves. By changing up the intensity and duration, you should be able to avoid getting stuck at this point.

Another activity that you may have overlooked when it comes to getting exercise is cleaning the garage. If your garage is like most others, it is probably pretty dirty.

It may be surprising to know that you can burn about 272 calories every hour through sweeping your dirty garage floor vigorously. While it probably will not take this long to sweep your garage floor, cleaning the rest of it will probably require lifting and other forms of exercise as well.

Fifteen minutes of cleaning your garage every day, or once a week combined with other activities on other days, can help you get the benefits that you need from exercising.

A fourth fun activity through which you can get the exercise you need is dancing. Fast dancing for about 20 minutes can help you enjoy all of the benefits of aerobic exercise.

This will help get the oxygen flowing. If you start sweating then you are working hard enough.

There are many different types of dance that you can participate in. You will simply need to find one that you enjoy.

A fifth activity that can help you maintain a healthy weight is working in the garden. Gardening for about 20 minutes manually is enough to provide you with the benefits previously mentioned with the other activities.

Even though this may be surprising, you can also enjoy all of the healthy fresh fruits and vegetables that come out of your garden. A typical person can burn up to 246 calories per hour gardening, 264 per hour raking, and 363 per hour when mowing manually.

Another activity that can help you lose and maintain the proper weight is swimming. A typical person can swim leisurely for about 20 minutes in order to do this.

Swimming is particularly a great activity because it uses the entire body. In addition, it is very low impact so it will not put any strain on your joints which could cause injuries later.

A seventh activity you may want to consider participating in is playing tag with your children for 20 minutes. This can help a regular person maintain a healthy weight.

Of course, the benefits from this activity will vary depending on how fast and consistently you run during this time. However, this can be a great way to build a strong relationship with your children as well.
