A Medical Marijuana License allows you to be able to use, purchase, and carry a small amount of marijuana for medical reasons only. In order for you to qualify, you must have the following; a recommendation from a certified doctor, a qualifying illness, and live in one of the 16 states that it is legal. If you are able to qualify, then you need to apply for the license or card.

Every state has there own laws and criteria for obtaining a card. If you live in one of the 16 states that allow use for medical purposes only, then make sure that you know what the laws are and abide them. They will tell you; how much you can have, where it needs to be stored, how to purchase, and how to apply. Not follow the state's laws can end up in serious consequences.

A few of these states are: Arizona, California, Alaska, Washington, Montana, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, D. C., and Maine. There are many other states that have a marijuana tax stamp. To find out if your state has tax stamp or legalized medical cannabis, you need to look up your state laws regarding the subject.

Some of the conditions that are on the qualifying list are, arthritis, HIV/AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, fibromyalgia, MS, and many more. If you have an incurable or chronic disease/disorder, you should first talk to your doctor about the use of marijuana. Make sure that you find out if it will be beneficial or harmful.

Take the time to find out what all of your alternatives are for treating your condition. After exploring other avenues, and discuss with your doctor if the use of marijuana could be beneficial. Then he or she can give you more information on obtaining a license and getting registered in your state.

Some states require you to have an ID card, others just require you to have a recommendation from your doctor. All of the legalized states require you to register with the state as a patient. The more identification and information you have is always better. As a registered patient, 14 out of the 16 states, allow you to grow your own plants.

But there is a set amount of how many plants you can have. You can be arrested for having more plants than the allowed amount. That also includes if you have more than the allowed amount in all other forms. After all it is still an illegal drug and if you don't follow the special laws for medical use, expect to have troubles with the law enforcement.

Just because you have a Medical Marijuana License or card doesn't mean that you can use it where ever you want. You still can't use it out in public areas. It is best if you use your cannabis in the privacy of your own home. Under no circumstances are you allowed to drive while under the influence, there are no exception this rule. You can even get jail time on top of a fine for operating a motorized vehicle while medicating.
