With a plethora of cellulite remedies, cellulite patches are now entering the fray of a crowded market of treatments. Their competition: creams, gels, pills, wraps, and all other things cellulite. The funny thing is, very few of those items just enumerated, and there are lot of them, actually work.

Will these patches be a bright spot in the industry of cellulite cosmetics, in the sense that they will actually work? The patches look promising, even if only for temporary relief.

As is the norm with these types of products, no intensive scientific tests have been made to actually prove that the products work. What we have on hand are essentially their own product tests, marketing claims, and actual experiences of clients who tried the product.

One cream temporarily worked, after a test conducted by an interested consumer. This is after following the instructions to the letter, and this meant putting the patch on for around six to eight hours on the affected spot. The patch can actually make the skin have a tighter and smoother look, but only for a limited amount of time. After a few days pass, voila, the cellulite was back in full force. Another problem with this particular patch was that, since the patches were so small, and the affected areas are usually large, the patch can be applied to a small insignificant area resulting in a square patch of smooth skin, and the surrounding areas still resembling cottage cheese. This would look ridiculous unless you applied multiple patches to improve the entire area affected, making the already expensive patches, even more costly.

Another patch had a more positive effect. The women who tried it noticed some improvement in the appearance of their cellulite. However, these women had severe problems since there were deep dimples in unwanted areas. The improvement was specifically seen in the surrounding areas which were unaffected by dimples, but did little to alleviate the dimples caused by the cellulite. In short, the patches did nothing to solve the problem of cellulite dimpling.

These cellulite patches seem to work albeit temporarily, as with most products, the patches are unable to solve the puzzle of how to get rid of cellulite, and then keep it from coming back. One can imagine that millions of dollars in research has gone into cellulite, its' causes and possible treatments, but cosmetics companies selling these products seem to be at a dead end.
