You could be in a lot of situations that can expose you to the hazards of smoke. You might live with a cigarette smoker or are often around people that smoke. You could get stuck in a traffic jam that will put you in a lot of smoke fumes. You might even work around machinery that burns diesel fluid or emits other smoke and this stuff is worse. All of these situations could put you in a life threatening situation. All of these fumes could make you pass out if the smoke is really heavy. If you are someone with breathing problems, you will want to avoid these situations if at all possible.
If you have a smoker in your home, you might try to get them to start smoking outside. If you have small children in the home, then you will definitely want to keep this smoke from them. In most cases, the second hand smoke can be just as bad as the firsthand If you should have a smoker in the vehicle with you, make them open a window while they are smoking or ask them not too. Some will decide not to smoke, but if this is a long trip, make a couple of extra stops so that they can smoke because there is nothing worse than an irritable smoker.
Doing this will help them relax as some could become rather nasty if they can not smoke. The trip will be more pleasing to all involved if you allow them this. If you should become involved in a traffic jam and you can tell by looking that you might be sitting for a while just open your doors and let them smoke. In situations like this some drivers will even shut off their vehicles to keep from smelling all of these fumes that are coming off of their vehicles. If more people did this, the having to sit might go by easier. If you ever had to sit in one of these dead stop traffic jams, then you know what we mean.
If you work in a place that uses diesel to run their vehicles, you will notice that the doors are always open. They are left open to keep the diesel fumes from going inside the building. These fumes can be more toxic than regular gas fumes as they are stronger and the smoke is thicker. Even the smoke fumes from a fire can be deadly because of all of the things that are burning. Most of the time in a fire in a home, you might have some kind of plastic burning. The fumes from this plastic can do the same as diesel fumes. If you are supposed to use a mask to cover your face at work sometimes, always do it because it is for your own good and safety.
