One of the reasons people are gaining weight and find it hard to lose their excess body fat is because of slow metabolism. There are a few reasons why some people are having slow metabolism and most of the time, it is due to sedentary lifestyle, the aging process and genetic inheritance amongst others.

One highly effective way to raise your metabolism so that you can start losing weight is to embark on an exercise program. Not just an ordinary exercise program, but exercises that can distinctly boost your metabolism.

One of the reasons why exercise can raise your metabolism is because it brings more oxygen into your bloodstream. As the oxygen is being converted into energy, it allows the metabolism to speed up.

Another way in which exercise, especially weight bearing exercises can help you to raise your metabolism is because you will be building muscles. It is a fact that the more muscle fibers you have in your body, the higher your metabolism will be and that will turn you into a natural fat burning machine.

So when you workout with cardiovascular exercises to burn fat and with weight resistant exercises to build muscles, you are actually burning fat and at the same time raising your metabolism to make your fat loss effort even more effective.

Cardiovascular exercises are workouts that get the heart pumping such as running, swimming, playing football or basketball for example. The faster your heart pumps, the higher your metabolism will be. That is why a sedentary lifestyle can cause your metabolism to plummet.

Weight resistance exercises on the other hand helps you to build muscles although most of the weight resistance exercises also have some cardiovascular effect. Since the more muscles you have, the more fat your body can naturally burn and when you have more muscles, your fat burning capabilities will be more permanent unless you lose your muscles.

However, building muscles can get rather complicated because of the science involved and that is why people training on their own rarely get the muscle mass they want. Another downside is that you may get injured because you are training with the wrong form. So if your budget allows for it, go and hire a muscle building personal trainer to guide and motivate you along. If you can't afford a gym instructor, then find a good muscle building training program from the internet, but do make sure that the program is from a reputable trainer.

If you are a male and is above thirty years old, you may want to consume a testosterone booster supplement. Your testosterone hormone helps to regulate your metabolism, improves your sexual health and is essential for your muscle growth amongst many other health benefits. The problem is that as you get older, your body starts to produce less and less of this important muscle building hormone.

So if you want to raise your metabolism to lose weight, then keep an active lifestyle by adding cardio and weight resistance exercises into your routine and if necessary, supplement with testosterone enhancement supplements.
