Many people, most often those who are practitioners of this ancient art, may wonder about how they can find yoga instructor training. While this exciting new rediscovery of an ancient practice that combines spiritual and physical wellbeing is very popular, it is important to understand that teaching a subject and enjoying it as a hobby or a way of life are two vastly different things.

Being a teacher carries great responsibilities. More than anyone else, a teacher will be looked upon as representative of the values, beliefs, and lifestyle that engaging in this type of an activity is meant to bring to a person. For that reason, this is not an occupation that can be taken lightly. A person should never want to do this simply because they can't find a job anywhere else.

Another, more practical consideration is that a teacher will have certain expectations of them that may have little to nothing to do with actual teaching of the practice in question. A teacher will have to primarily know how to teach and how to deal with people. Some people cancel after booking an appointment and then do not pay. Some people complain, or can't seem to learn.

It is important that anyone thinking about being a teacher understands that they can't allow a bad day affect the way they teach. There are no allowances made for personal failures. As a teacher, a person must know how to deal with difficult individuals and difficult situations. Of course, it is also important to know yoga.

Fortunately, there is an alliance that governs the education of teachers of this practice. This is done to ensure that when people decide to try this particular mode of wellbeing out, they are trained by someone who knows what they are doing. There is a very specific process by which a yoga student can become a teacher.

The first step in this process is to find and register with a 200 hour teacher training course. This is the bare minimum and absolutely required in order for a person to be able to teach. These courses can be found through any local center that offers this practice. In addition to that, it is possible to find a lot of places offering such courses online.

While it is possible to teach professionally after passing this course, it is important to know that in the eyes of the experienced practitioners of this art, a person with just the one course may not be considered experienced enough. Most serious teachers are recommended to take the follow up to the first course, a 500 hour teacher training course where they can truly learn and master the art they will be teaching.

The reason for the intensive yoga instructor training is simple. This ancient art may have had a modern revival and many may see it simply as a way of exercise. However, this is more properly thought of as a way to enlightenment, and a way to better both body and mind.
