When someone is trying to lose weight there are usually a lot of foods that people recognize they are supposed to stay away from. Although you will want to stay away from those foods, you should also know about the foods that people usually do not recognize as being fatty.

There are a lot of condiments that people eat because they do not realize that they are taking in a lot of calories when they eat them. You have to make sure that you take time to realize what food you are going to want to avoid in the condiment section.

First, you should realize that there are some condiments you can eat. When you realize what condiments you can eat on a consistent basis you can try to replace the bad condiments with the condiments you know you can eat.

This way, you will be sure that you are still eating food that you can enjoy but you will not be eating food that will hurt your health level. Make sure that you take time to understand how you will eat more of the condiments that are not bad for you.

Mustard is a great example of a condiment that you can eat without worrying about consuming an excessive amount of calories. This condiment has minimal calories and also has a minimal amount of sugar in it.

There are a lot of people that have a hard time understanding how they can be wise about the way that they eat ketchup and BBQ sauce. Because both of these condiments are low in calories people tend to slather them on their food.

You have to make sure that you are not putting more than a half-dollar size on the food that you are eating. When you put more than that on your food you will be taking in too many calories and too much sugar.

If you are eating a salad you have to be extra careful about the dressing that you are putting on your salad. Make sure that you understand how you are going to put the right dressing and the right amount of dressing on your salad.

While you are learning how you can be wise about the salad dressing that you choose you should start by avoiding all creamy dressings. The creamy dressings are going to be full of calories and you want to make sure that you realize that even the ones labeled 'light' have a lot of calories.

Find the dressings that are oil based. Make sure that you are taking time to understand how you are going to stick with the vinaigrettes so that you are not consuming a high amount of calories on your salad.

If you need to make your own salad dressing combine some olive oil, lemon juice and vinegar. A combination of these three ingredients can make a tasty and guilt-free dressing that you are able to use on your salad.

Whenever you have salad dressing you will want to be sure that it is on the side rather than being on the salad itself. When the salad dressing is on the side you can dip your fork in the sauce and then get the salad on your fork.

This way, you can be sure you are getting enough dressing with each bite but you are not inundating your salad. It may be frustrating at first, but once you get used to it the movement will become natural as you are eating a salad.

When you are putting condiments on your food you want to avoid mayonnaise like the plague. While you are eating mayonnaise you have to understand that you are packing a ton of calories into a tablespoon of mayonnaise.

If you must eat mayonnaise you should make sure that you find some that is based on oil. This way you can be sure that you are able to minimize the amount of calories that you are consuming when you eat the mayonnaise.

Any type of ranch dip or dressing should also be avoided. There are not a lot of people that realize that they should not be eating any type of ranch dressing or dip because of the number of calories in the dip is quite excessive.

Make sure that you are wise about the condiments that you are eating when you are trying to lose weight and be healthy. The more that you understand about the dressings and condiments you should eat the easier it will be to avoid those that are not good for you.
