Rhinoplasty refers to the plastic surgery to correct the appearance of a persons nose for medical or cosmetic purposes. It is mostly recognized as a nose job. It is most common in the United States than any other part of the world.

Some people have long noses while others have wide ones. Some appear to be crooked while others are too small. This makes their faces appear somehow imbalanced. Surgeons have used this to add balance to peoples faces by removing some tissue or by adding some depending on the problem.

Nose jobs are mostly for cosmetic purposes. The people who have them do so to improve their self esteem and confidence due to the balance they come either. In some cases they are done to correct breathing problems. They are very effective for both cosmetic and medical purposes.

Nose jobs can only be done when the facial development of a person is completed. For girls this happens between the ages of fifteen to seventeen while for boys it is between sixteen and seventeen years. This avoids the surgery being repeated after the face development process has been completed.

A person going through a nose job has to go through pre-advice and post advice. This way a person is well informed of what the surgeon will be doing during the operation. They are also advised on how to take care of themselves after the surgery before the nose is healed.

During the procedure aesthetics have to used to reduce the pain. It must be decided if local aesthetics are better for that particular procedure or general aesthetics would be better. Either way they must be used due to the pain a patient would have to go through if they were not used.

During the procedure a surgeon may use that chance to strengthen the nose. This is done from by removing nose cartilage or bone from one part of the nose to another. The cartilage could also be removed from another part of the body like the ribs.

Once the surgery has been completed the nose is dressed in a white tape that covers the nose for about a week. This gives it time to heal well before you can go back to your daily routine with a new nose and balanced face.

The nose may discolor for some days. This should not worry you as it goes back after a few days. The area around the eye may also swell up. This clears after a week and you are back to our old self only with a brand new nose.

In some few cases an infection may occur after the procedure. Though some may cause complications most infections are generally easy to treat. In case you get one it is recommended you go back to the hospital where you had the surgery for treatment.

People who go through Rhinoplasty heal after a week. The balance created by the surgery accentuates the eyes and lips and the person appears prettier than before.
