For many people on this planet, the pain and punishment of nausea and bloating are a monthly occurrence. For some, nausea and bloating can be signs or symptoms of something more serious going on with their bodies. How can I be sure which one I am? Well, here are a few tips regarding nausea and bloating that can help you figure that out.

Nausea and Bloating- That Time of the Month

Women have the sole pleasure and duty to deal with nausea and bloating on a month-to-month basis. No, they didn't ask for it, but it sure likes to come whether it has been invited or not. In the case of PMS, nausea and bloating are simply signs that your body is going through a hormonal fluctuation. This is certainly nothing serious and can easily be treated with over the counter medicines. If you aren't sure whether your nausea and bloating are a part of your monthly cycle, give your doctor a call and schedule an appointment. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Indigestion, Nausea and Bloating

If you aren't one of the lucky ones the deal with nausea and bloating on a monthly basis, or even if you are, nausea and bloating can also be signs of indigestion. Indigestion is defined as the difficulty or inability of the stomach to digest certain foods. When indigestion happens, nausea is sometimes a byproduct of that. If foods have a problem going down, they might want to come back up again. When the stomach is irritated, it can easily trap gas and create an uncomfortable full feeling. This is where the bloating comes in. Indigestion is also easily treated by over the counter medications. If these medications don't work for you, please see your doctor about medication options or treatments.

Nausea- All by Itself

When dealing with nausea, you might not want to deal with bloating on top of it. Sometimes you will be dealing with nausea all by itself, and for you that will be enough. Nausea can sometimes be a symptom of something as simple as food aversions, or something as serious as cancer. Because of the fact that there are a wide range of prognoses involved in nausea, it is best to contact your doctor's office if your nausea persists over a period of a few days. As stated before, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Bloating- Enough on It's Own

Bloating can be uncomfortable, painful, and embarrassing! When your stomach decides to play around with you, bloating is usually one of the first things it pulls out of its bag of tricks. When you're bloated your feel full, gassy, and sometimes you can feel sick. There are many over the counter medicines that are perfect for treating bloating and the problems that come with it.

Nausea and bloating are a double whammy when presented together. Even separately, they can make your day go badly.
